Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden
About
Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

Supriised with the course.
We were pleasantly surprised with the course conditions since we last played Iron Clad!
Even though there are still 3 temporary greens and one closed hole the greens were much improved. The fairways were also much improved.
They are still adding irrigation to the course which should improve the fairways considerably.
Under Construction
First 9 holes were aerated and 10 was shut down. So all of the players had to cram onto holes 11-18 and 3 of those holes had temp greens. So not a good experience.
Work In Progress
You have to break a few eggs to make an Omlette.
Working hard to upgrade course, sprinkler installation ongoing. Much better than selling to developer to place housing on it.
Nice layout
Really enjoy playing here. Tees & fairways are in very good shape. Greens are a bit slow but in nice condition. Were 3 temporary greens today. Course conditions improve every time we play. Will continue playing here. Thanks to all the staff
Overall
They are putting a lot of work, effort and money into this course. In a couple of years it’s going to be awesome course. I’ll keep playing soon to be hidden jewel. Keep up the good work.
Needs Work
We played here last year in August and it was in better shape then than it it’s now and was cheaper. After we paid the full price of $35 was when we were told one hole was closed and two holes had temporary greens. (It was really three hole). Started on the back 9 and greens were in ok shape even the holes that were closed those greens looked better that holes that were open. Front nine greens were completely different than back. It was like we were playing a completely different course. They needed to be cut and were fuzzy where the back nine had been cut and rolled. I understand they are trying to fix this place up and I look forward to playing there when they are done with it. But charging full price for a course that was in that shape is crazy.
Course should not be open
Terrible terrible terrible and it’s not advertised that half the holes have temporary green on grass so the fact that they are charging regular price for that pasture should be ilegal. They only had a sign saying hole 8 was closed. The whole place is terrible.
Course is in Rough Shape
Course is in rough shape at the moment. Looks like they are doing work on greens/fairways to better the course in the long run but it is a struggle at the moment. Temp greens on a few of the holes as well. One of my favorite courses to play when it is in decent shape, so will definitely be back, but not for a while.
Great Golf Experience
Have watched this group steadily improve the course and amenities since they opened. Work in progress, but they are doing a great job of brining a fun golfing experience to the area. Highly recommend the course for a fun day.
Mixed Review
The course layout is challenging and imaginative. The course upkeep has been neglected. We played several temporary greens and several others were bald, sandy, or both.
The course needs investment and a better groundskeeper.
New Owners working diligently to upgrade course, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette.
Working hard to upgrade course the pricing reflects that and happy they are, could have sold land to developer.
I’d only recommend this course for beginners who don’t practice putting. Very open course, but the greens were as thick as the rough and were very poorly tended. Barely any hazards, and you’ll find yourself driving next to cars getting from hole to hole. The tee boxes were also basically cement. The only thing saving this course was it cost me only $20 for 9 including a cart.
Decent value
Greens were being worked on, so temporary greens were in play. Should be a different experience when the greens are back in shape.
Ironclad
As novice players, we enjoyed this course. Good opportunity to use multiple clubs. Not busy so no pressure from behind. Enjoyed a beer after the round in the beer garden area, watched the corn hole games.
