More open and forgiving than Grey fox

This course was a little more open than Grey fox and a little more forgiving off the tee. Also it wasn't as mountainous as grey fox either which also helps. Being less hilly though, it didn't seem as pretty. However, this course seemed to be in a little better shape. Again there was no water coolers anywhere and the cart girl was never around.

Good Course if in area

The conditions on this course have greatly improved over last few months (reseeded greens). The greens are now rolling great and they’ve increased the speed significantly after the greens grew in. The course has a fun lay out with Par 4 doglegs left and right, short 4’s, lengthy 4’s with tough second shots, and has well guarded greens. The course also offers short, mid, and long par 3’s. Those play from 145 to 215 from the tips. The par 5’s on the course can be reachable with well placed tee shots on 3 (on 9 you can go over the trees with a 250 carry which will leave you 200 in), but No. 12 is a definite 3 shot par 5 (lay up to 100 yards is tightest spot on hole). Course is very enjoyable and we love having it in our rotation.

Greens are back

They have got the greens back. The ex superintendent sprayed bad chemicals killing the greens in the spring. The course has put a lot into the greens and it shows. They are rolling really well. The course layout is super fin. 2nd hole is a little weird unless you hit it far.. a fun reasonably priced course in the pinehurst area

Worst greens in the Carolinas.

Booked the course because of past experiences, especially the Grey course. Was extremely disappointed upon arriving that the greens were destroyed. Between the lack of grass and the Goose feces everywhere, it was nearly unplayable.

For the price, it was a horrible experience.

Would not recommend this course at this time.

Memories

One: The tees, fairways, and greens are in decent shape for the most part. The value and pace is hard to beat.

Two: I remember Foxfire from the '80's and it's hard not to feel a bit sad. I heard it's made a rebound recently or is making a rebound, but it is not the course it was, at the moment, or the course and resort it could be. The tees, while decent, often had debris strewn over it. The greens had many dead spots, and the sand traps are severely neglected.

The layout for this course is a gem. It is a very challenging day out. It's long; longer than it seems or reads. It makes you bend the ball every which way or pay the price.

The resort was a great getaway. The cottages they had were cozy and the atmosphere the I remember has been cut down with the many pines that used to watch over the whole community. I do hope it hangs in there and makes a comeback. Give the course a shot~~

Long course

This is one of the longest courses I've encountered in the area. If you play here you have to be very good off the tee box. The course was is good shape. I personally prefer their other course (the red fox). Expect a challenge!

Too Many Ants

Course was fun to play but the greens are in rough shape. I am deathly allergic to ants - carry an epi-pen in case I am attached. This course had ant hills everywhere. I was constantly watching where I stepped.
There are restrooms on the course but only water jugs - no machines to get ice and water. And you don't go by the clubhouse so there isn't any place to get a snack or a beverage.
With so many courses in the area, I wouldn't make the drive out to Foxfire.

Perfect for cost from Golf Now

I really love going to Foxfire both courses are very well laid out the only problem I have is that there's no place to get anything to eat or drink once you start and you can't take a cooler on to the course. The greens are in good shape not like some of the courses around there but it's a great place for the value from GolfNow. Will always go back but next time I'm sneaking in some drinks because I don't want to be thirsty

Great experience

I am not an avid golfer but I'm visiting the area and wanted to get in a round with my brother and nephews, all of whom are golfers. This course was perfect for all of us. The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. Overall a great golf experience.
