Needs some work
Its close, its cheap, there's no water holes, staff is friendly... that's the pros.
The cons are that there are giant sink hole trenches in some fairways due to water erosion or something. They've cut down a lot of trees which wouldn't be a big deal except that if you hit slightly into the rough there's good chance you'll never find your ball under a downed tree. Unlike other courses that have wooden steps leading up to tee boxes or placed on areas that have large hills, this course just has grass... if you're lucky. There's spots coming down some mounds where they can't get grass to grow so they just installed bricks, that are slick as glass if there's any moisture. One of the tee boxes is literally up on side of a hill with no steps or cart path to it, I saw where couple people had tried 4 wheeling it up the side of hill to tee box lol. They recently worked on all the greens, sadly it made a few worse. The 18th green has an actual ledge/cliff that drops off almost a foot in middle of it, not joking, 18th green might as well be a beach putt putt course.
Fun course.
Great municipal course. However, recent tree clearing has left an ugly scar on the landscape on several holes and detracted from previous picturesque views. A few greens are still mending from recent work and difficult to putt.
Great little secret from back in the day
Wanted to play it before they change the lush, receptive bent grass greens to skinned rock hard Bermuda. All because players won't properly fix a ball mark, courses in the area are converting to can't make a dent Bermuda. Then in the winter get out the tarps and close the course for days, not to mention cutting down.100s of trees so the greens get max sunlight. It is a shame that this course is following the trend. The greens are small and will be hard to hold, so after this summer, ill play way less at Lexington and go find some bent grass greens elsewhere.
Fake greens
It was cart path only because it rained the night before. I was ok with that. However the course was working on some of the greens and had temporary greens No mention of this before playing. Way too much money to play a crap course. I understand that work has to be done but to make a tiny green in the fairway with out telling the players is crap. I won’t be going back
Hi u314159267094,
Thank you for coming to play at Lexington Golf Club and leaving a review. We apologize for you not enjoying your experience. In regards to our 4 temporary greens, we feel we were very clear communicating this message to golfers. We contacted GolfNow to put a Course Alert message on booking screen, we updated our website to include message on our Home Screen, informed golfers who called to book, and had a sign posted on the front door of our Golf Shop.
The last day our temporary greens will be in use is this Thursday, February 22nd. We hope you will give us another shot.
Thanks,
Lexington Golf Club Staff
Fast Greens
Great course that doesn't try to break the bank. Not a long course. I used my 4 iron (220yds) and 3 wood (260yds) from the tips. The greens have a lot of break in them and they're fast!!! You must putt well to score well on this course. Approach shots must stay below the hole. I highly recommend this course especially for the cost. This course would cost $80+ in Charlotte NC. This course will be added to my rotation.
