Enjoyed playing.
The course was great... we had to move quickly bc the carts had to be back in by 7 but all in all we enjoyed playing here and will be back.
Fun as usual
Course was fun as usual, and really in great shape. Greens were fast. I had my worst round of the year, but it certainly wasn’t the course’s fault! Recommended!
Good Course, Bad Rough - Challenging Greens
HCP 5.8, shot 78. Conditions were perfect. Check-in was lame. Lady at counter did not smile or offer any welcome and was very matter of fact. Paired with a family of three, one of them a 16 year old, who was a very good golfer but seemed bored. First 9 holes are Donald Ross, so expect domed and undulating greens. Can't go too long or too short. Hole 9 is challenging unless you have the right yardage and line. Back 9 is a little different in character, but fits well. Here's the DOWNSIDE of this course - the rough off the fairways (the first cut) is super long, maybe 6+ inches. So expect to lose some balls, even if you know where it landed. Sometimes you have to be on top of the ball to see it. The thick rough makes it very challenging for average players. DON"T play with new $4 balls, unless you can afford to lose them. I and another player could not find our balls on a wide open hole, which both looked like decent tee shots. Greens are firm but they were little rough and bumpy. Overall worth trying out, but I am not sure I would play there regularly. Good value for money.
Best condition I’ve ever seen it
Greens are nice and fast. Fairways good and tee boxes not too beat up what more could ya ask for. Can’t beat the value for a city course!
Is in the best shape I’ve seen it in.
MCC is honestly in the best shape I’ve seen it in.
Thanks to the grounds crew for all the hard work.
Greens are amazing
Greens we're in absolutely perfect shape. The kind of greens you would see in a $100 course. The Bermuda was so smooth and flawless. Rough is very penalizing, try to stay out of that. Sand traps are also very fluffy but nice. The back nine is a lot tighter than the front, be prepared.
Greens are amazing. The type of greens you would see at $100 course
The greens were absolutely beautiful. They rolled so smooth and they just happened to be in the best shape at the time. I would try to stay away from the rough, it was deep and thick like Bermuda is. Fairways were nice. Back nine is a lot tighter than the front. Sand traps are extremely fluffy
Fun Course, but Tough Rough...
A fun 18 holes, though I didn't play particularly well. Greens, tee boxes and fairways were in very good shape. I started at 8:40AM and there was a threesome ahead of me and no one behind me. The threesome moved quickly, and the round was only 3.5 hours. My only gripe with Monroe CC is that the rough is VERY lush--not high, but thick. It's pretty easy to lose golf balls in this stuff, even just a few feet off the fairway, which is frustrating. And it's very difficult to hit out of. But my fault for straying from the fairway! Accurate drives are a must here! Overall, a fun round as usual. Staff is great, too!
Enjoyable
Very, very fast greens. Good layout and a good pace, especially for a Sunday.
Always a fun course…
Decided to walk nine holes. Forgot how hilly Monroe CC is and ran out of steam after six. (Getting old)! But they were six fun holes—course in real good shape, greens especially. Staff is great. This is my go-to course in the greater Charlotte area.
Beautiful course
Course layout is very nice. Greens had been sanded so roll on the greens were very unpredictable but fairways and tee boxes were perfect. Pace of play can be a pain cause there are several walkers that play there. Enjoyed it and will come again
