The course is 18 holes
We enjoyed this course it is properly name Cross Creek on the front 9 you cross that big creek a lot. The course is well marked and there are additional markings at the on holes where you're not sure if you can clear the Creek or not. The staff was very nice and the whole experience was great, looking forward to playing there again.
Gem of a Course
Played this course after a significant heat wave and the day after sever thunderstorms. Course was in excellent condition and drained very well. Greens are bent grass, Not slow, not fast, 8-9 ish, but rolled true. Some protection on speed based on recent heat. Course has lots of water, BUT give one a bailout on nearly every shot to stay dry. Back nine is much tighter than front with much more elevation change, with several terrific risk/reward holes. Only knock on conditions was that the bunkers had not been serviced after the rainfall and were rock hard. Staff provided a yardage book for the course at no charge!! I will go back to this course; it is worth the hour drive to get there.
Nice course
Challenging but fair. Front nine is easier and back 9 can cause your score to blow up but is scenic. Course conditions better than most in the area. "Winter kill" didn't hurt this course much for some reason.
In great shape
This course is in fantastic condition, especially compared to other area courses. Late season freezes hurt many courses. One nearby course is having to repair or replace large amounts of their greens. This course shows no signs of any weather damage. We drove an hour to play here and will be glad to return.
Cross Creek Country Club
Excellent course, fairways & greens in great shape. The sand traps were hard & did not play like sand traps. That would be my only complaint on the course. Staff extremely friendly & helpful. This course did not experience the winter kill in the fairways that many of the other courses have experienced.
Unbeatable Value
This course has a wonderful rolling design with great scenery, challenging doglegs, undulating greens, changes in elevation, and rivers rolling through on a couple holes.
The conditions were great with striped fairways. The conditions were that of a top notch course and available at a fraction of what the price should be to play this course. The greens were a tad slow and the we felt like we had the course to ourselves despite a Saturday 1pm tee time with chamber of commerce weather.
This is a course I would drive an hour or two to play and look forward to playing it again.
Challenging and worth the money
Enjoyed my round. Sand traps and water strategically placed to make the round more challenging from the back tees.
Meadow to Mountain
Interesting layout with 11 holes sitting on flat land and the other 7 winding through the hills and homes of the development. Definitely get a mountain feel throughout the course especially holes 11-16.
Overall experience very good. Greens in good shape, fairways decent and the rough still a little sparse do to the time of year. Strategically placed bunkers and water hazards on the front nine present challenges off the tee.
Not overly difficult, especially if you hit it straight. Couple holes on back nine get pretty tight but other than that very playable enjoyable golf course.
Would recommend for a day trip, well worth the drive and money!!
Great layout
Excellent course. Need to play it a few times to know too play it.
A challenging course.
Design and routing were excellent. Fairways were in okay shape, grass was dormant and greens had just been aerated and sanded. Tough putting! I would like to play again when course is in better shape. Brad Edwards, head pro, was welcoming and very helpful!
Staff
The young man in the clubhouse was very nice and went above what was expected to make us feel welcome
Nice layout and staff is amazing!
Unfortunately, we played in 30-35mph wind gusts and cold but the layout of the course and EXTREME friendly /professional atmosphere. Thank you again and can't wait to get back to Mount Airy to play Cross Creek CC again.
The only reason I didn't give a 5 rating on course condition is because the bunkers could use some more sand or raked down off of the edges. Greens are amazing for this time of the year and true to roll.
Outstanding
A must play for all of those in the area. Will definitely play again.
Agreat looking country club
Really liked this course. The front is flatter and more forgiving, although there is quite a bit of water it doesn't come into play unless you are hitting really errant shots. The back is tighter with more hills and quite challenging on several holes. The fairways had naturally gone dormant so we had some pretty flat lies but the greens were in excellent shape. They seem to do a great job of maintaining their course.
Wow. awesome layout.
Great course. Greens were perfect and extremely fast. Very tricky for first time playing them. This course makes you hit every club in your bag and also every shot shape. Rough was thick and juicy
Paid price if you hit it in rough. Front and back are very different from each other. If you get the chance make sure you play this great track.
greens are a challenge
course was in great shape, staff was great and very helpful will be playing more rounds there
Best course in my part of the state
Greens were challenging but fair. Layout was varied and required different types of approaches which made it a lot of fun.
Beautiful course with a challenging layout
The course is very scenic, with a beautiful clubhouse and friendly staff. The course layout is tightly packed with large greens and most of the holes require a well placed tee shot. Fairways are marked very well with yardages which is extremely helpful. We played from the white tees which played around 6300 yards. Several holes play long and tight so there is some risk reward with grabbing the driver. I was very disappointed that the greens were arified a week prior and we were not informed until we were set to tee off. The clubhouse did however give us a partial credit to come and play again for our troubles. Because of the arification the greens were extremely, extremely slow, sandy and held a thick dew even after lunch that produced quite a rooster tail of water. The bunkers were also not raked prior to the first tee times which led to some difficult sand shots off of hard pan. All and all I really liked the challenging design and look forward to playing the course again when its at full strength. make sure to request a yardage book. It will help you immensely if your playing the course for the first time.
Tough course
I would have given this course better overall rating had I been told they recently plugged the greens however the fairways were in great shape and in another couple weeks in sure the greens will be as well. A lot of sand and water on this course makes it challenging but fun.
