Great place
My favorite course. Staff always friendly. Course is great. Love it.
Not a great course
I played here with my daughter and I probably won't be back. The "fairways" were just regular grass and the grass was so tall, you could lose your ball in the fairways. It would sink down and unless you about stepped on it, you could overlook your ball. The greens were rough and bouncy. It was like putting on gravel. If you want a place to play where you can work on your short game, then this is your place.
Still worth a visit
I played the Hills to work on my irons and got a true workout. Small is sometimes better... DT
Wow
One of the worst courses I’ve ever played at. Beat up and you can tell they don’t take care of it. Money is better off going somewhere else
Fine course. More fit for families/kids
This is a fine course as long as you know what to expect.
As I was looking for tee times in the triad, I found a great deal for Heather Hills and decided to book it. I then read reviews and found this was a somewhat unconventional par 60 course with many par 3's and a few pars 4's, and includes shots from many "unique" distances... I couldn't be upset though as I only paid $20 for 18 holes of golf with a cart on a Sunday morning. But most importantly I knew what to expect before showing up to the course.
The course isn't in immaculate shape but it's very playable. Many holes are incredibly short par 3's but you can work on your short game. Overall this course seems fit for families with young golfers who aren't looking for 500 yard par 5's but instead more manageable holes. However, I wouldn't recommend this course to an experienced golfer who is looking for a challenging round.
Great course
This was my second time playing here and the grounds were kept alot better this time and it is a good course to learn on, somewhat challenging but not too hard.
I will definitely go back!
And staff is always super friendly and helpful!!
If only If only
If you want to practice some odd numbers and shots, go and play Heather Hills. It is a par 60 course with 6 par 4's and 12 par 3's and it is in Terrible Shape. Absolutely Terrible.
There is no reason to bash the condition any more than that.
Aside from the 1/2 star condition, this course does offer a good time. You will hit shots that you need to practice anyway. All 6 par 4's are drive-able @ 200-280yds. Hit up hill sub 100yd shots into concrete greens. Stick approach shots 2 feet from the pin, then laugh with your buddies as it bounces off the back of the green.
It's a fun course. Just don't go out there expecting anything.
If I won the lottery, this one would be a fun one to pump a load of cash into and make it a really cool track.
They moved the tees up?
Played here about 10 times, not a great course, but good for a quick 18, done in @ 2 and a half hours. It is what it is, surrounded by apartments, very narrow, but good for short game. Problem is, they moved the white tees up to the red, so on 6 or 7 holes you’re hitting less than 100 yards.
Very nice short course. Lots of variety and plenty to challenge your short game!
Never Again!
Not what I expected at all, should be for used for working on short game at a very low price!
Nice little course to take my 10yr older daughter out on for her first real 18. This course is fine for working on your short irons only thing I wish greens were in better shape but for $15 can’t really complain.
First time here
My biggest complaint is that the houses/ apartments are way too close to the course! I hit several and thank goodness i didnt break a window. I wish that i had heeded the advice of other reviews and not wasted my time! The greens are not maintained at all there is trash all over and i wont be back.
Be advised if you draw the ball in the slightest you will be hitting houses, no room for error or learning on this course.
It's a fun little course, but they are charging way to much to come out...15 bucks weekend 10 dollars week is about what it's worth...when you can go play Reynolds at Twood, Blair Park, Salem Glen etc for just a few bucks more, why not? I'd go play here a couple times a week if it was $10-15/18 holes.
I’ll pass
Fairways too high
Greens not maintained and bouncy with lots of grass
Tee boxes in bad shape
You will loose At least 6 balls if you hit fairways and green. If you go off the fairway or go long over the green don’t even attempt to look for your ball.
No mas!!
Not recommended
Unless you are a beginner looking for a pretty cheap place to lose balls, I’d head somewhere else.
Get what you pay for
Greens were not really greens, they had little weeds and crap grass. Fairways were ok. Sand traps were not maintained.
Give it a try...
I am new to golf and have played several times at various courses over the past 6 months . My son (9) and I have played the par 3 course at Tanglewood a few times and enjoyed that experience. He wanted to play a “real” course but I knew he wouldn’t be ready to play a long course so this one was perfect for our abilities! A decent layout with par 3 and 4 holes kept me interested and challenged him. He even drained a 20’ putt on #7.
If you’re a beginner or intermediate player looking for a decent course and willing to work on your iron play instead of your woods, it’s worth a shot. The course is not in great shape (but I’m no expert!); cart paths are rough and bumpy but for $17 on a Saturday with a cart, I’d say “give it a try”.
