Beechwood Golf Course - Creekside/Lakeview
About
Located just outside of Arcanum, Beechwood Golf Course proudly holds the title of the being the only 27-hole golf course in Darke County. The holes are played in three different 18-hole combinations that are made up of two distinct nines. The Creekside/Lakeview course, as one would guess, features plenty of water. The third hole on the Creekside nine is notable for the severe dogleg left fairway. Lakeview is the newest of the three nines, added in 1997 almost 10 years after the original golf course. This nine continues the challenges with forced carries over water on the second and third holes. In addition to the water, there is extensive mounding throughout the course that accentuates the already hilly terrain, making an even lie somewhat hard to find.

Fun Course to play!
Beechwood is a tad out of our usual travel to play golf, however, a Tee Time Golf Pass made the trip worthwhile. The course is in good shape, the greens are hard and any shot that lands/rolls to the side will generally roll off. Greens putted fairly well. Previous reviews mentioned to poor condition of the bunkers, but it is obvious that they have been working on them. Beechwood has three 9 hole courses so variety is the name of the game there. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly and we definitely will return in the future,
NOTE: did not utilize the snack bar so I cannon comment on that aspect.
Greens were fast and inconsistent
Overall not a bad visit. The staff was friendly and the pace was excellent, 18 in 3 hours!
However, the greens were very inconsistent. Most were hard and fast. Many golfers grumbling that good shots wouldn't hold.
The value was good but not sure I'll go back due to the greens.
overall the course, people and amenities were quite
nice and friendly. some of the greens were a little
rough but I found it to be a hacking good time.
great conditions
we found the course in very good shape for all the weather we have had . We never waited but a minute or two to hit and never felt pushed.
Great course !
Every time I have ever played Beechwood it has been a good golf outing. Very friendly staff, always in good shape, and 27 holes!
It's all about the greens
I like the course but the greens should all be cut the same. Some were faster and some slower.
Simple Course, Great Price
Played Woodland/Creekside at 1:22 on a Tuesday- 4.2 Handicap
Played front 9 in about 1:10 hours. Played back 9 in about 1:30 hours. There was a 2some holding me up which did not allow me to play through, no fault of the course though. All the recent rain did a number on the rough. Rough was thin but tall with a lot of mud and mowing tracks. Fairways and tees were good. Greens were in excellent shape, albeit slow.
Cost was $23 with cart. Can't beat that, but probably won't be back due to not quite challenging enough for myself and distance is quite far away.
More good value Darke County Golf
Played the Creekside onto the Lakeview. I'll cut the course some slack for the overnight rain which meant the course was sloppy at times with some standing water in places. Otherwise conditions were pretty good outside of some uncontained anthills on 4 and 8 on the Creekside. Greens were soft and a touch slow because of all the rain, bunkers had wet sand with standing water in a lot of them. Layout was a bit of a mixed bag. Plenty of straight forward holes, but there were a few that were very well laid out. The one that really caught my eye was 8 on the Lakeview, a par 3 with an elevated tee with a creek crossing from tee to green (the hole pictured), which could be potentially brutal with a left-to-right crosswind and a far left pin placement. There is an alternate tee which makes the hole parallel to the creek, but the elevated tee crossing the creek is far superior. My buddy and I ended up with a hot deal for $18 a piece, which is absurd value, but even at the typical $35 for 18 holes, it's still very good value. It's certainly worth the trip for the value, and I still lean towards Turtle Creek as being a better course in Darke County, but this place is certainly no slouch
