Cape May National Golf Club
About
Cape May National Golf Club, also known as simply the National, is a favorite among both New Jersey natives and visitors. The club has roots that date back to the 1800s when it was known as Cape May Country Club. The peacefully secluded golf course is nestled amidst mature woodlands, surrounding one of the largest private bird sanctuaries in New Jersey. The scenery is beautiful but don't let that distract you. There are plenty of challenges to keep you on your toes, including tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and several water hazards. There are a few blind shots that make Cape May National Golf Club especially tricky if playing it for the first time. The classic design is a fair test but it's player-friendly enough for a wide range of skill levels.

Perfect day
Paid $32 through golf now, saved $20. The course was in excellent shape and pace of play was great. We never saw a group in front and played right through every hole. One of my most pleasant golfing experiences.
Favorite Shore Course
I love playing here - I always try and get out early to make sure that it is not backed up, and have a great experience each time.
Course has a lot of different holes and looks - played from the blue's and it plays long from them.
Greens and fairways were in great shape.
Good range and chipping/putting areas
Nice Course
It was a overcast spitting rain day so we went early to see if they could get us off early. They did. They were very accommodating. Very few players after us so we took our time. Over 5 hours. just enjoying ourselves. It was great.
Nice Course
Played as a single and got paired up with a twosome who were regulars at course. First time playing here so that was a bonus. Greens were very fast, course was in great shape. Will come back in the future.
Cape May National
I had not played here in 7 years. I was very pleasantly surprised. The course was in excellent condition. Greens were fast and in great shape. The layout is very good. I paired up with 2 other golf noewers. They were playing the blues at 6,500 yards. I normally play the whites at 6,050 td but I went along with them. I had a good day off the tee and found the extra yards to be a pleasant challenge.
The course is beautiful place to be towards dusk. It was like a sunny heaven.
Tough Greens
Course was in great shape not that long more position golf. Greens were difficult to read and get the pace. Lost 10 strokes!
Will play again.
Great Course...Great Shape...Little Pricey....Long Round for a Monday Morning
I love playing Cape May National. It's a great course. The price is a little high but that can be expected of a Shore/vacation course. The course itself was in excellent condition. The only downfall was the 5 hr round at 7:30am on a Monday. I would definitely recommend this course and will definitely be back.
Great Course for a Great Value
I grabbed a GolfNow.com Hot Deal for $23 for a 2:52 tee time on a Sunday. Unbelievable. Typically a round goes for around $100 - which I don't believe matches the quality of this course. Anyhow, it is always on GolfNow.com for around $55 or lower, and for that is great value for such a great course. Greens, fairways, everything in great condition. GPS on the carts, although sometimes questionable yardages... Definitely will go back.
Beau layout
Vert très sinueux et très bien couper à 11. Top shaaaaaap!
Another great time
Play here every summer. I thought the last few years were really good, this year is even better. Greens rolled very fair. Always enjoy the layout. Played early (first tee time) and really enjoyed it. Played in under 3 1/2 hours. Cant wait to play it again
Course is in great shape.
I have played Cape May National several times this summer. The staff is very friendly and the course has been in great shape. Good layout and fun to play. Challenging for all levels. Look forward to my next round.
1st time at Cape May National-- Will be Back!
First time playing this course and we loved it. Didn't score very well because many of the holes are very challenging but totally enjoyed it none the less.
Remote Location in NJ, Needs to be Special
We happened to be down in the area for a kids' soccer tournament, and decided to take advantage of being so close to Cape May National. We played the middle afternoon (1:30) rate at $69, which was the same regardless of if you walked or rode (EXCEPTIONALLY walkable course, as you might expect this area f the state is really flat), which stinks for out of towners. But I guess like everything else down here in the summer, things cost about twice what they should because demand so far outpaces supply. Except this course was basically empty. The guy who took our bags was really nice, but inside they're a little apathetic towards customers.
Course itself is laid out so that from the white tees (was playing with a beginner), a guy in my handicap range can only use his driver like five or six times, and I don't hit it long, 240 - 260. That can be good, if you like to hit woods and out think the golf course, or bad, if you are better with your driver.
Tee boxes were largely chewed up, but the greens were excellent. Sand traps are a little hard because, according to the chatty 'member' who got tacked on to our group, they're at water table level and hard to keep soft. Overall course maintenance was pretty nice, the carts were electric (I feel this is something this site should track, gas or electric carts, because no one likes gas carts), and as a positive they had a fantastic course dog to chase away geese. Any course with a dog is okay by me.
Overall, I wouldn't ever play this course again, but largely because it's not worth driving past better golf destinations like Atlantic City and Egg Harbor for better courses at competitive prices.
The course is 7000 yards. Its located in Cape May... I guess thats remote
Cape May national
Course was in great shape play was kept Moving. Greens were fast but in great shape. Highly recommend to anyone.
Both fun and challenging
Had never played Cape May National but heard really good things from friends, and it lived up to the hype. I am a 9 hcp but I played from the whites to accommodate my partner (a novice) and I still used every club in my bag. A lot of course management required and the greens are very quick so chipping and putting are definitely a challenge. A great golf experience at the Jersey shore and I will definitely play it again.
Tough course but very pretty and well kept
Hard course that is set in an amazing setting. Surrounded by nature. Tons of water and mature trees. Tee boxes conditions were average but the fairways and greens were very well kept.
I will be returning.
Consistant
Fairways in good shape, greens improved on 9 and 10 from last two years. Slow play even on a weekday at Noon!
Fun course
Course has some challenging holes which makes it a lot of fun to play.
Good value for this Challenging course, with a Great Staff
Front 9 and Back 9 play like 2 different courses - keeps your interest up! Very nice staff who take the time to talk with you and explain the Best way to play the course. Plan to make this a regular stop on my Jersey Shore trips.
Its never $100.... $89 is peak summer rate
