Waste of time and money
I can't say enough bad things about the course. Near 90 heat and no water on the course and the water jug in the clubhouse was out and I was told, "Oh it's always out." The fairways were weeds or bare, the layout and greens delt like a carney putt putt course(only thing missing was a windmill or giant clown). When you could find a ball washer, none them had cleaner in them. I will never go back even if they paid me to play. Overall, very sad.
Pace of play
Excellent course for beginners. Greens in excellent condition staff very friendly
Great course for the deals we get
Been enjoying this course most Sunday mornings for around 5 years....last time we were out, the course was in great shape. I don't like when the rough is tall, especially when clover is out of control
And I really hate the dreaded mounds lol
Sometimes the pin positions are ridiculous too
It would be nice if there was sand in the traps
I really like the 10 round punch card
Thanks
You get what you pay for
Paid $15 for 18 w/cart. I'd say at the price why not. That being said pine valley is in rough shape. Tee boxs are rock hard and patchy with the fairway in the same shape. Course could do with signage to direct you from hole to hole due to the layout not always giving you a clear view of the next teebox. The car path is wrecked and the bridges over the creek are not great. St. Andrews was much nicer and I actually enjoyed it a fair bit.
St. Andrews
I have played at Emerald Woods for several years. I love the course layout and the fact they have 45 holes. The last 2 times I played there, I played on St. Andrews. That nine is in very rough condition: Fairways were burnt and torn up; tee boxes--esp on 18 were extremely hard; Lots of grass missing in the fairways. I would recommend avoid St. Andrews and play a different nine.
the greens were in good condition but the fairways needs work. a lot of brown or dead grass probably due to disease. the maintaince of the whole course was good except for the fairways.
Separate 9's and it shows
The property is a series of 9-hole courses that you can pair together to make a round of 18. Pine Valley was the first 9 I played and it was in fairly good condition and had some interesting holes but nothing super challenging. The second 9 I played was St. Andrews and it was certainly more beat up - fairways with burn spots, tee boxes harder than cement and sprinkler heads on the greens. You get what you pay for, but you can play fast here - I played in under 3 hours and got stuck behind 2 groups for the last 4 holes.
Staff
The staff knew it was my first time golfing alone. The man behind the golf desk put me on a course that fit my play level and at the midway pt even gave me a few extra balls because I lost several till I got the hang of spotting my own ball!!!
Decent Value for the Money
The courses at Emerald Woods are a decent value. While no one is going to mistake them for a premier daily fee operation, the price reflects that. There are lots of weeds and wet spots around. There are even sprinkler heads in the middle of some of the greens. However, pace of play is usually excellent and Emerald Woods is an OK spot for a quick tune up.
Great course to play many things for different style of golfer from the beginner to the low handicap golfer so you have great choice I played one of the challenging course and it beat me up pretty good but had fun. The staff are great and very helpful will return.
Nice greens Nice staff!
Nice place to play with friends and family. The five nines are also nice because it helps with crowding if you are by yourself. If you don't hit a straight ball then don't play Pine Valley unless you bring a few dozen extra balls. lol.
The courses are fairly easy and wide open (minus PV) and the greens are nice. If you play here when the wind is blowing this course will play very long. Almost every hole will have wind in your face. Also, the greens keeper likes to put pins on the sides of hills to make 3-4 putts very easy and makes putting very interesting some days.
Cant beat the staff! they are very helpful and friendly.
