A great surprise
First time out there and it’s instantly become a favorite of mine! Club house is super nice, carts HAUL, and the tee boxes, greens, and everything between was in great shape... even the bunkers. Wide open and forgiving for most of the round but a few tight holes and a creek that runs through adds challenges to make you think about your shot. Would love to go back
Unfortunately
The grounds keepers were mowing and were all over the coarse. The issue was they seemed to not be concerned with those playing.
Average hacker
For spring I would have expected better conditions. The greens are very hard, will not hold any shot on green. Greens also slow but easy to putt. Would not want to walk course, many long drives from greens to tee boxes, but signage is pretty good to lead to correct tee box. Found it odd that 18 does not lead back to clubhouse.
Hi, thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. Please know the current conditions are by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards a 5-star experience and we hope to see you back!
Nice course, slow green, but be aware of rude driver
This was the second time I played on this course, and had been two years since I first played here. The first time I played here was during one of my former colleague’s memorial outing, and I only learned to play golf for less than 6 months. You can imagine how the game went for the first time. I literally acted as a bystander to watch my teammates playing scramble since I couldn’t contribute anything but fishing balls in the ponds and creeks.
As a result, I sought to challenge the course again after my handicap dropped to 14 this year. Well, the “revenge” didn’t went well as I planned. The green was kind of slow, even slower than the slowest course I played before. For the approaching shots, I couldn’t rely on the green to extend the ball rolling, instead I have to club up by one to assume the carry distance + 5 yards as the total distance.
However, my golf lessons on using fairway wood and driver finally paid out, and I had the confidence to drive over the hazards instead of bailing out. I would wish I could eliminate all those 3 putts or 4 putts to improve my score significantly.
One incident occurred when I was teeing up for a 200 yard par 3 along the highway, some rude countryman drove by horned on purpose since he’s the only car on the road at that time, but I still managed to drive the ball on green despite the noise he made.
The pace of this course is very fast, it did add additional pressure to the game, which may not be a bad thing,
Overall I enjoyed the course in a wonderful afternoon, I will evidently come back again when I feel my skill is improved.
Playing Chippewa GC
I took up golf this last summer. I've played CGC a bunch of times now. I enjoy the diversity of the course. The front 9 and back nine play different. Which makes it challenging in different ways. Very reasonable prices. Excellent club house manager. Chippewa golf course is one of my go to courses.
Great for location
I come from a City w a ton of good golf courses. Been coming up here w family for past 12 years and this is only course we have returned to and enjoyed every time. Third year playing here and always book a t time here. Haven’t been able to find another course within 30 min of oak harbor that doesn’t feel like a 2nd rate course. This wouldn’t be best in Cincinnati but I would play here in a heartbeat.
Decent Rural Course
Nothing terribly memorable about this course, but I enjoyed trying a new course in the area. Pretty flat, and wide open.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Chippewa Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
