Pleasantly Suprised
Having played the course some 10 - 15 years ago, I really enjoyed my round at Pleasant Hill. The greens rolled very nice and the layout of the course was generous and challenging at the same time. The 17th hole is a challenge. Overall, I had a great time playing the course.
Good but small Greens
The course is wide open but can present some challenges with some well placed trees and some long par threes. The tee boxes are uneven and unkept. The fairways have potential but resemble second cut type of playing surface if you can find them. No signage on half the holes. Greens are well kept and play pretty true. Most are very small. May have new ownership clubhouse is more general storage area and needs an interior facelift. Pace of play was good. Course was full but not overbooked. I would give it another chance in maybe a year.
Good, but could be better.
Could be a great course. Fairways were long and missing the heavy density of blades. Greens were in good shape, but found a lot of pins leaning where the cup wasn't secure. Overall it is a difficult and fun course, could just use some work.
Fun Course
I have been playing for under 1 year. One of the things I like about golf is playing different courses.
this was a fun course and the people were very nice.
Great value for the money
Fairways and rough fairly high, as were tee boxes. Greens were great. Staff fantastic. Will definitely play there again.
Plenty of water
The 17th hole is the highlight of the course, with your second shot over water to the green. Several other holes feature water, so keep your shots straight.
Not a bad course
I play Pleasant Hill often the course was in fair condition the fairways need some TLC the greens were average speed and in good shape, overall it's a course with a few tricky shots, fairly wide open and good value for the money
On the way up
Hard to rate a coarse this time of year but Good for the price of their regular fee.---... Great for the price I paid.----- Met owner, (family owned) told me about improvement planed next year..(slit seeding fairways)
greens are great but none flat
good value but fairways need work and can not find ball if not in fairway
Decent greens but fairways need help
Like the other reviewers, I was disappointed in the condition of the fairways but still was able to play the ball off the odd variety of grasses, clover, etc. The greens were well above average in terms of smoothness and lack of ball marks - probably due to the lack of play. The course was so wide open that I finished my round in 2 hours!
Nice course, HORRIBLE staff.
The course is well maintained, although sometimes its a bit hard to tell the difference between the fairway and the rough. It does, however, offer lots of variety and is fairly open so its easier for beginners to pick up on without losing so many balls.
The staff, however, was the polar opposite.
We arrive on time and properly dressed. He told us that it had rained the night before and to stay on the paved cart path until the the afternoon since it was a sunny day.
We are a younger group so maybe he decided to give us a hard time, even though two of us had been there several times over the summer. When we go to tee off, he comes out and forces us to rent clubs for the new guy that was with us and that everyone needed their own set. This was understandable, except both groups of people in front of us had 2 people per set.
When we get back to the third hole back up in the front, he comes outside and tells us that there is a group behind us and we need to wait at the teebox on the next hole for them to pass. We had just finished the third hole and they were just teeing off on the second hole. So we waited for them, for 20 minutes to catch up and pass. Right behind them is 2 groups of 2 who were right on their heels, so we let them pass a well. We were forced to wait 40 minutes overall.
So on the back 9 around 3 PM when the fairways were dry, and we had seen at least 3 other groups leave the cart paths, we decided it was OK to leave the cart paths in hopes up keeping up a good pace since we were so far behind. Within minutes he storms up on a cart yelling at us about how he told us to stay on the path and he's tired of seeing us constantly break the rules. We pointed out 3-4 other carts on the surrounding holes that were off of the cart paths and he told us he doesn't care what they are doing, WE are to stay on the paths. He drives away to talk to the others and comes back saying we need to remain on the paths. When we talk to the group ahead of us on the next hole, they inform us that he told them they were allowed to drive off of the path but to go slow on the fairways.
When we finish our game and return our carts, he complains about how long we spent playing our game, so we told him that we stayed on the cart paths almost the entire game despite having a new player that scored a 176 so he had to walk to every ball, and letting multiple groups of players pass us as he requested. When he told us to speed it up next time, we informed him we wouldn't be returning to this course again.
Below average
The course has 4 holes running side by side. ...... very close, wear a helmet. Also, fairways are horrible, unless you like hitting off of crabgrass.
Course in BAD shape
The course was in the worst shape I have ever seen.
The greens and tee boxes were in great shape but the fairways looked like they haven't been cut in a couple of weeks and it was nothing but crabgrass and bare spots. This is not an exaggeration, I think we lost a ball that was in the fairway because the grass was so long and it was crabgrass. Horrible ..............
They should tell you the condition before you pay.
Good course but Fairways need work.
This course is a good deal and great place if your starting out. It is wide open and relatively flat. The tee boxes are okay, they could use a little work getting weeds out. The greens aren't bad except for 17 which seemed like it was flooded on one end and was super soggy. The fairways need a lot of work. They are either dry and bare, or overrun with weeds. I stopped a ball in front of the green on number six, and it was like playing out of rough. We lost a ball in the middle of the fairway on one of the par 4s on the back nine.
Overall this course is worth going to play if you are looking for something open and easier at a decent price. I will definitely be returning to this course.
The fairways require a lot of attention.
A young kid riding a lawnmower followed us to three tee boxes! His reasoning he had to cut around the tee boxes. Ok, turn off the mower while we are teeing off! Duh!!!!! Informed the staff at the turn. They took care of it. We played for $11 each. I wouldn't recommend this course if the price wasn't so cheap.
Excellent value and not an easy course
Really enjoyed Pleasant Hill. The fairways need a bit of "weed & feed) but the greens were really good. A lot of trees and the 14th hole eats golf balls (confirmed with a wiley ole veteran). Great time and will definitely choose this over a few others.
OK for the money
Pros: The course is set up well and there are some nice holes (especially 17). The length of the holes was almost perfect, although it played a little shorter due to the fairway condition. Par 3s were all 175+ yards from the second-to-last tees. In general, the greens and sand traps were in good condition.
Cons: Almost all of the "grass" in the fairway is crabgrass, if there is any grass at all. A lot of bare spots; it appears that only the greens are watered, as even the tee boxes were mowed weeds. Many of the greens were too small.
Overall, the course is flat without a whole lot of trouble, so I think it would be perfect for players just starting out, but not great for those looking for a well-manicured challenge.
This was practice for my son.
Staff great. Took my 8th grade son for practice since he made golf team. This is one of the courses he will face.
Dry fairways but open course and some long holes.
Fun for us.
Poor
Course needs to be totally ripped up and re-laid. Fairways are absolutely pathetic. Greens are tore up on nearly every hole. Only way I would play this course again is if the course paid me to play it. Don't waste your money.
fairways in bad shape
It looks like weeds have taken over the mostly brown fairway. Pretty bad shape! Lots of dead trees. Water scummy.
