Great course. First timers will be surprised
Course is a challenging layout with a lot of blind shots. If it’s your first time or you haven’t played there for 10 years, you kick yourself after you see what you could have done or where you should have gone. It’s in great shape though, and you’re rewarded for good approach shots.. Because you can’t see where you’re going, you’re left with many long iron shots, but the greens are soft enough to hold them. Any amount of course info you can get before playing will help.
FUN AND ENJOYABLE
I’ve probably played here twenty to thirty times over a couple of decades.. Every time I play it, without exception, I say “that was a lot of fun “ I love it. An absolute “MUST PLAY “ when in Central Oregon
3 hour round on a Sunday
7:15 a.m. start had the place almost to ourselves. Wife and I cruised. 2nd time here, so had a couple of directional challenges of the tee. GPS on the cart was bare bones., but useful. Course was in pretty good shape, greens were great ( minus the multiple ball marks) $20 a seat for cart is a bit steeper than what I am used to. Tgat 3 hour round included fishing out a few balls, because we were catching the 2 in front of us.
Lost it
Used to be a fun course in decent condition now is in horrible shape and no one is keeping the course up. We will not be back again waste of time to putt on greens that feel like fringes
Budget Golf, Great for Moderate Length Hitters
The course was in rough conditions especially on the front nine (likely gets more play). Greens and tee boxes were needing serious help. This course would be great for the 230-250 off the tee player. If you drive it 250+ I would suggest playing the black tees or you will be stuck hitting iron/hybrid on many of the holes.
Course layout: numerous dog legs (mostly left to right). You need to know where to aim off the tee as there are many blind landing zones/ dog legs. A range finder doesn't help much off the tee however very helpful for your approach shots. The pro shop sells a yardage book for $2 which I found helpful to know how far to X bunker or turn. The book did help, but wasn't super accurate since the tees boxes do not have stones for starting points.
The 16th par 3 with the train for a bridge is a fun experience, people put old bag tags and gloves within the cart as a "remember me" token.
Overall, I am torn on this course being worth it for the money. I am leaning towards finding a deal at the nicer resort courses like Pronghorn / Sunriver mainly for better course conditions and variety of holes.

Shocked
I REALLY hope this is not a sign of things to come. Lost Tracks has always been a favorite course... with a great layout, nature setting w/ few houses, mountain views!
So disapointing to see how rough the course is coming out of a cool wet spring. Bare/brown patches all over the course, yellow flowers growing in fairway, rocks in traps. It looks like a course beat up at the end of a long season, not the start.
Lost Tracks is going down a slippery road, please bring it back to the amazing course it is!!

Poorly maintained. Only played there because it was so cheap thru GolfNow

Needs some love
Great clubhouse, great layout and a friendly staff but the course needs some love. Quite a few weeds throughout the fairways and the greens are not great. Hopefully, this can be corrected.

tight pace of play
Great course but so many people use carts that when you walk the course it is very tense. Players shoot into you on course.
Course pase was extremely slow.
The foursome I played with was so frustrated at the course pace we all decided to only play 9 holes. On #8 we were forced to wait over 20 minutes to tee off!
After completing #9 we went to the clubhouse to inquire about possibly receiving a raincheck or credit due to the the time limit and we were told no. Won't be back to that course.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
