Approach shot on one of the holes.. shows the average putting green condition Photo submitted by dmhj4evr on 09/30/2013
Nice new greens
New greens are great. Fairways in good shape. A bit of standing water is a few places. Some tee boxes need a little TLC. But overall a good value and a fun course to play.
Wow! New greens are fantastic!
I hadn't played Harry Jones since before they shut down for green replacement. Wow, they did a fantastic job. This golf course was always close by, convenient, fairly-priced and the staff is always super friendly. Now they have a beautiful set of greens to go along with everything else that makes this public track a special place in Charlotte. Do yourself a favor and check out the renovations. They did a fantastic job. I think these greens are only going to get better as they continue to grow.
Great course
This course is in great shape, fairway and greens both! Enjoyed playing there!
New greens
New Greens are why I’m coming back. Last year the greens weren’t worth putting. They’re beautiful now.
Starter needs replacing
This is an excellent course for the price you pay, but the starter is usually a stickler. Today we missed our T-time by a couple minutes and asked if we could just play behind the group of 4 that was coming ahead of us, since there was no one behind them. The starter told us no and that we had to skip hole 1. Not cool, even if we were 3 minutes late.
course has a problrm
cart path looks and feels like a wash board...Other than that ok
Great Value Course
The new greens are great, and the fairways are in good condition. Most of the tee boxes were good, with just a couple not so good.
Overall this course is awesome for the money. It’s a somewhat basic layout, but for the price you cannot beat it. Early Friday morning pace of play was no problem, but I can see it getting backed up on the weekends and later in the day. Book early in the AM if you can.
Renovations?
Kept hearing the course was going through renovations but once you get there to play all you see is trees cut down and the greens redone.
Carts are still old. Staff was short staffed. One man checking in, running concession and issuing the cart keys.
Pace of play-awful. So many solo golfers not paired up in front and behind our 4 some group.
All most all tee boxes are dead. The cart paths are like a raggedy back road.
Great Shape
This used to be my home course about a year ago but it was never in the best shape. With the new greens and the way they have taken care of the fairways, it plays like a completely different course than I was in used to. Course is in great shape now! Will definitely be back soon. Love it!
Not bad not great
So let’s start with the good. This course is wide open and has a good variety of challenging and simpler holes. The scorecard has the yardage here around 7300 but it doesn’t play nearly that long. Now the bad. The green were just renovated and are playing like it, these thing were SLOW. Really makes it tough to have to hammer a put when you’re 10-15 feet away. The cart paths are also crap, so expect to be jostled. The course tends to get crowded too, so pace of play usually ends up being around 5 and a half hours. That being said, it’s not too expensive playing here but there is definitely room to improve.
Good practice round
Look, you’re not playing the TPC so be prepared for an old golf cart, torn up cart paths and halfway decent fairways and greens. It’s fine for a nice practice round and if you go early you can get around in less than 3 hours. Staff is friendly but would be nice if they redid the paths and got new electric carts.
Decent 18 hole course
First time playing there. Greens were slower than I’m used too. The layout was interesting.
