Disappointed
I’ve been playing the Championship Course at Tanglewood since 1988. Today is by far the worse condition I have seen the course. The course is currently $25 overpriced. Very disappointed. It has always been one of my favorite layouts.
Definitely changed
This championship course has definitely lost its luster...layout a little different than the sr PGA days....a ton of bare spots, tons and tons of weeds...poor places outside of fairway...greens are ok ...look good , roll is bad...not as fast as used to be....you feel now that you are on top of other golfers especially on back 9 now...
Tanglewood Championship
Greens were challenging but in very good condition. Fairways were forgiving and well groomed. Interesting elevation to add variety. Long par 3s still makeable but must be accurate. Ho,e 14 and 15 layout very close but silage warns about looking out for errant shots. Looking forward to playing again.
Ok course
First time I’ve played the Championship course here and I wasn’t really impressed. The course was slightly above average for this area and the staff was not friendly at all, especially when a storm started while we were on hole 13 and when we asked about a rain check (which every course I’ve ever played on offers if it rains), I was told as rude as possible that they do not offer them.
Love love love
RTJ at his best. The millions in renovations gave this classic layout (on of my favorites) a much needed facelift. Would make for a much better PGA than Quail Hollow IMO.
Fairways were in great shape and a beautiful course. Greens were fantastic and super fast. There is a lot of sand so definitely took a toll on my score. Will be playing again.
Great Layout
This a fantastic layout, tough. Today was extremely windy so we had to deal with that. In addition the course is very hard due to lack of water in rough and fairways. Greens were holding surprisingly well today. Rough is sparse in spots. If they could put in a little more $ into this course it could reclaim it s stature it once had. Great layout. Tough course for beginners.
I definitely will play it again late summer. Great value.
Great greens very consistent
Coarse was in good shape. Very playable and tough at the same time
Love the front nine of this course, but have always thought the back nine was not given the attention it should have received.
Staff are the best around.
Old School feel
Our foursome was able to walk and keep up with the twosome in front of us. Great layout. Terrific greens. Highly recommend.
Due to the coronavirus situation, I was not able to play this day.
Due to the coronavirus situation, I was not able to play this day. The course staff willingly cancelled the times on the morning of the tee times.
Excellent course
Loved it. Really great layout. Greens in excellent shape.
Good greens and pace of play
Early spring round and the course was in good shape considering the amount of rain we have had this year. Greens were good shape. Played in under four hours on a Saturday, always a positive. Look forward to playing again in a couple of months when the Bermuda grass comes to life.
Great course
Where else in the world can you play the site of a major championship (1974 pga championship) and was a regular stop on champions tour.? Crazy cheap Pryce!
Challenging
Course is in good condition bunkers and greens redone. Staff is friendly and layout of the course is both challenging and enjoyable.
Great Layout, Winter Conditions
Having played this course before, this round only confirmed my belief that this is one of the best layouts in the Triad if not all of North Carolina, and especially for the price. The course was in decent shape for the time of year. The fairways were somewhat overseeded although it was thin in some places. The new bunkers are excellent but you can tell it gets a lot of public play because in the afternoon, there are a lot of footprints from golfers who have not raked the bunkers. The greens roll smooth but my only complaint there is that they use the same three hole locations all winter, just rotating between them and because the grass is dormant the areas around the hole gets pretty worn down and fast from all of the traffic. Overall this is an excellent golf course that I am sure will be even better once the grass starts coming back out.
