Great day in the heat!
Played solo 12-3pm 18 holes. Didn't seee anyone until the #15. The greens were in great shape. Bunkers needed attention but over all I was very pleased with my decision to play this course. Fair green fees and beer prices. Very small club house and very few amenities but for the price it was perfect. I heard that the city is voting to shut down the course. What a shame. Beatiful course, lots of lake views. Great staff. Relaxed pace of play. Will go again!
Best course in Lago
Cannot beat the value and beauty. Go play Highlands!
My best game ever
I had my best game ever here. Though I have only played this course 4 times before I usually play Lago Vista but it is closed on Monday and I have heard it isn't being kept up. This course was in pretty good shape and we were not rushed at all.
Better than advertised
The course was fun to play. Very scenic. Greens in good shape considering Texas heat. Better than most around town.
Biggest drawback was no good yardage marking other than 150 yard stick.
Highland Lakes review
At just under $100 for 2 of us I was kind of disappointed it felt more like a $25 round. The greens were at very best mediocre, recently punched 14 days prior and still bumpy and sandy. It was beautiful and kind of a shame it's so far out, I'm sure if it was closer in they'd have more play more revenue and up keep would be better.
The views were great and the pace of play was fine. We did get behind a group of women. We were fine with the pace they played but the group behind us had the Marshall come and ask us to push them along. Whatever that mean, we let that group play through at the turn.
Could be a beautiful course
My wife and i played this course, I shot 79. The fairways were close cut weeds, the sand traps hadn't been worked in a while and in poor shape, the greens were uneven and bumpy with no chance of a put staying on line. Obviously the course had gone down from it's heyday. The high point of the round were the views from high points. Will not be added to our play list. With proper care could be a real nice track.
Terrible Greens
This course has previously been in great condition but is deteriorating. The greens had been ariated and were extremely dry and bumpy. Very frustrating on all 18 holes. Sand traps had rocks and grass growing in them. Seems like the city is not maintaining this course for some reason. Very disappointed in the outing this time, as were the other three I played with.
Great Views
Course has great views, but the grounds are very dry, fairways and greens are some of the worst I've played on in the Austin area. Such a disappointment to have a prime location and not maintain it better.
Someone Needs to Resuscitate this Course
This golf course has so much potential and yet, sadly, has fallen flat on its face.
A course with some truly epic views and holes with tremendous challenge and potential, seems to be neglected, miss-managed, and quite frankly, hurting for resources.
Many of the tee boxes were uneven and missing their markers. The fairways were a combination of grass, weeds, deer, and wild flowers. The greens reminded me off the bathroom floor of a beach house with how much sand was visible and stuck to you and your ball after putting.
Overall the course has the potential to be incredibly beautiful and challenging as houses, trees, and cliffs hug the fairways all the way through. However, it appears the management has thrown in the towel with regards to re-investing into their course.
Any angel investors out there? This is the course for you!
#1 Positive -- there were deer everywhere. It was like playing 18 holes on animal planet.
#1 Negative -- while several people were finishing up their round (including myself) the started allowed a large group (30+) to do a shotgun start without any communication. People were driving through my holes as I was playing and jumping tee boxes in front of me. No etiquette at all.
Hitting on fairway doesn't always equals reward
If you are a fan of blind tee shots on practically every par 4 and 5, this is the course for you. I realize blind tee shots are a part of the game, but it gets repetitive and monotonous after a while. Course was in rough shape. Fairways were a mixture of crab grass, St. Augustine grass, and various weeds. They had just seeded/sanded the greens which I do not mind if the rest of the course plays well. That wasn't the case.
No Maintanance
The city has obviously cut down on maintenance on this course, greens are horrible and fairways are not much better. If the course isn't properly maintained word of mouth will kill you!
Day out with son.
Bought a hot deal that gave me 18 holes, green fees, and a cart. Perfect price. Was really looking forward to playing with 7 yr. old son. When I was checking in at the pro shop, they said I was paired with someone and needed to pay for the cart to let my son ride. This was frustrating and dissapointing. Nowhere in the description online did it say I would be paired with someone or that I was buying half a cart! I paid for the extra cart because I didn't want to forfeit the money I had already prepaid through Golfnow. Very slow play, no Marshall keeping tabs on speed of play. Nice views of lake. Bad customer service.
Needs a lot of help
The temporary pro shop is really bad, re tee boxes are eaten up, fairways have patches, and the greens... just no. I understand that Bermuda grass on the greens are tough this time of year, but regardless they are not good right now at all. Great views though.
Golf ⛳️
The fairways were pretty rough greens were sanded and rolled don't know if this is normal for this time of year in Austin area
