Windcrest Golf Club
About
Formerly a private club, Windcrest Golf Club is now open for public play. This nine-hole course is tight in some spots with a traditional layout that calls for a variety of different shots. Tree-lined fairways and elevated greens protected by bunkers require sharp short game skills and accurate placement off the tees. Water hazards also come into play on two holes. With four sets of tees, the golf course is perfect for juniors and beginners who want some practice or avid golfers wanting a quick round. One of the most appealing things about Windcrest Golf Club is that it doesn't get especially crowded on weekends, meaning tee times are rarely required.

not a 18 hole course
when booking this course on my smart phone said it was an 18 hole but when I received the conformation e mail said it was a 9 hole course. if I wanted to cancel the booking would still have to pay the booking fees so we played the course anyway. It wil be on my do not play list since we always play 18 holes. the course was okay but really for beginner golfers. Dissapointed on how they tricked us into playing a 9 hole course.
Not a good course in the fall
Stay away from this course in the fall, poorly maintained golf carts are a safety hazard. Staff has no course management background.
Hidden Gem
Fun short nine hole course located in the middle of an older neighborhood. Layout is not long but holes are challenging due to trees and well designed bunkers around the greens. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Went back the next day.
Overlooked Gem
Wonderful little course that plays quick. Greens in excellent condition. Lots of trees that line the fairways and provide that challenge for the non-straight hitters. This course is overlooked because it's only 9 holes but play it twice from different tees. 3 par 3's and 1 par 5.
Great for a quick 9
-Course was an excellent value for the price, paid just $12 with cart for a twilight round
-Greens and fairways were in good shape
-Very easy course, would highly reccomend it to juniors as well as anyone learning to play
-Would also reccomend to anyone just wanting to get a quick practice round(I played nine holes in only 70 minutes)
Overall-pass on Windcrest if you are looking for a weekend splurge, but it's perfect if you want a course in good condition at a great rate.

Best Value in San Antonio
I found this gem last week. Have played it twice since then. The value is amazing! Pace of play was at 3:10 both times, great for summertime afternoons when you don't want to be out 4-5 hours. Staff is friendly and very helpful.
Nice Time
nice course for seniors and beginners. staff very friendly and helpful, wish it was on the NW side of san antonio
Senior golfer
Great course for a senior golfer or beginner. Challenging enough but don't lose many balls. Course is in good condition since recent rains. Staff laid back and friendly.
windcrest
Great staff, very helpful and informative. Greens were easily marked. Course was fun to play.
Not bad for beginners....
As long as you can hit fairly straight. It's a very narrow course so hitting onto fairways other than your own is very easy and so is landing in the middle of the road.
Otherwise it's great for people who are trying to learn, good number of challenging(for beginners) par 3s that make it fun if you're not a distance hitter yet.
Great Shape
The course was in great shape better than some of the city course. Pace of play was fantastic - 18 holes in less than 3 hours
Placement course for Irons and hybrids
This course will definitely make you better around controlled and placed shots. Very challenging for long ball hitters.
This course is fair.
There was no waiting to get on. Larry and the rest of the staff are very helpful and friendly compared to most courses I play.
The greens were in great shape, the fairways mowed and fair. There is water at 2 of the holes. I would recommend course to everyone.
dont hit a house or a car - I did!
Great course. Loce having the pressure of houses and cars being within striking distance if it was a poor shot. Great and friendly staff. Carts could be maintained better, but can't complain. Fairways and greens are in excellent shape after the rain we just had. The older men who play here like to be pushy if you've spent 10min in a hole, which isnt a big deal cause I ignore em, but I dislike that. Last time around I left my brand new club at the pra tice net for the first 9 holes, bit was there when I got back. $13.30 for 18 holes and a cart isnt bad at all.
Run down
The course was pretty poorly maintained. The grass was sparse at best in places. The sand traps were maintained well. The club house is run down and the carts are getting very old. The price is pretty high for how poorly the course is maintained.
San Antonio's Best 9 Hole
I love playing here for many reasons: price, convenience, ease of play/people, etc... I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice quick round to just get some holes in or to take your young golfer to.
