Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Nice Course but a Wet Muddy Day
1st time playing here. The course was in pretty good shape, but it was extremely muddy and cart path only (understandably so). Pace of play was slow, but the layout was enjoyable. Not a lot of hazards but very challenging greens. All in all, a great day of golf. Traffic leaving the course on I 95 South made it for a brutal ride home.

The course look great on autumn colors
With the course looking beautiful on autumn colors, course played difficult for me. Maybe could have played a bit better though. The tees need TLC. Staff friendly. I would have wanted more control of the groups starting on the first tee so as not to get groups pact together on the 2nd hole.

A course in great shape
I've played this course several times a year over the past four years. The layout is solid and it has a chill, no frills vibe. Over the past year, they've stepped up their game. The conditions are much improved. No, it's not a country club but it's excellent for a public course. The staff is more cordial. Pace of play is better too. Somebody somewhere has made some good management decisions and/or put some money into course conditioning and operations -- and it shows. It's a quirky course with a few odd holes but they are doing what they can to make the most of what they have. It's becoming one of the better courses in the area, which I'm reticent to say, since it means the crowds will come, and it'll be difficult to keep whatever balance they've found in making Pohick a secret gem and great place to play golf.

Great place amazing staff
First off cleanest bathroom out of any golf course I’ve ever golfed at. Besides that great staff, great course, I’ll be back.
Excellent condition
We went out at 5pm and got 16 holes done in 3 hours. We did hear finishing players from earlier complain about a 6 hour round but our pace late in the day was excellent and only $41 twilight rate.
