Fun course
I played here last year twice and I plan to go back. It was a really fun layout with beautiful scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The greens were average speed and in good shape, but if one got above the hole they could be very fast. It is not a super high-end course but it was just a really fun day in a great setting. My out-of-town friends from the Midwest still talk about it.
Excellent Course and in Great Condition
Excellent layout and in almost perfect condition. The greens were in great shape and slopes in the greens are a challenge--stay below the hole!
Fairways, tees and bunkers all in great shape and just a fun course with excellent views of the mountains in the background. Pleanty of beautiful trees line the fairways so straight tee shots will be helpful.
The holes had good variety of up and down hill and with holes that go left and right--you will get some side hill lies. We played blue tees and a friendly challenge withs some longer holes and some shorter.
The Club is located just off of I 81 (adjacent to a hotel) and apparently a private club for many years and now accepts some limited outside play...enjoy!
member guest
played Ironwoods member guest a few weeks ago and just loved the course. lots of challenging holes that require long irons and utility woods. The greens were awesome!!
shame I'm not younger, full family membership only $85 if you are < 40 years old???
Solid Valley Course
The Staunton Country Club, now called Ironwood is a solid test. The course is in good condition and greens run true. The par fives are all of a solid length to make scoring even more challenging and there are no gimick holes. If you havent played it yet, the circa $40 green fees is a fair price for a good local track.
