Perhaps a top NW course
You get views up and down the Columbia Gorge, somewhat distracting from what is a very nice golf course. Most greens are undulating, so not for those don't appreciate that. They have cut down the areas outside the rough; much harder to lose a ball than before. Not many climbs, so an easy course to walk.
No plugging
This course has been the best wet weather course I have played in PDX/Vanc area this year. The fairways have weeds, but are cut well and still get some roll once ball lands. Greens roll well but are tough. Course is hilly, so not an easy walk, good exercise. I was only one on course in a steady drizzle, 2.5 hour round.
fun course
Despite the heavy rain we have had in the last week the course was very playable. Being on a hillside allows for very good drainage. I have played it many times and really enjoy the layout. The only negative is the cost. For being so far away from any large population they charge way to much money. They would get more play if they were more reasonable priced.
Bandon in Washington
The course is located in the most beautiful spot in the gorge -stunning views- the greens are huge and very Bandon like.
I would say that the owners need to really concentrate on the weeds and moss as spring approaches. Re rake the bunkers when you travel there, watch out because if you are in in regulation a three putt looms! yds
My favorite public course within 50 miles of portland.
Elk Ridge
Elk Ridge I feel has a really good layout and great views. There are 3-4 holes that are challenging to walk but the rest are pretty flat. Because it is built on a hill it drains pretty well, even though I said it was wet in reality it was just slightly damp even though there has been a lot of rain the day before.
Rolling Greens
Wide open course, but those greens! Not a flat spot on them. Scoot past the cup, and you're 15' beyond at least. Great views of the gorge.
It's a great place to play
Up from Tucson to play! Always try and stop to play this course! Greens are the biggest and hardest I ve ever played! Wish I could play again before going back home! Hot Springs is fun too!
!
Links in tjeGorge
This was a fun round I really like the layout. It is not long but the greens and elevation changes will test your ability I will be back. Staff is friendly and service and food were very good The greens are very good quick but soft and the ball will stop and hold on approach shots. Give this course a try you won't be disappointed.
First Time, Will Play Again!
Had heard good things about the course and it did not disappoint. Very windy so it was more difficult to play but still enjoyable. Course was in good shape except for the greens having been sanded and they had been verti-cut.
The modest elevation changes coupled with wind offset the fact that many holes were 'side by side'. It made it more challenging.
Definitely and course to play again and again.
beatiful country
Each hole has beutiful features and montainous background. My favorite course in the White Salmon area where I live. From the whites it plays challenging yet possible to get on in regulation every hole...keeps me coming back.
Nice tract
I love the layout and the gorge views. Wind was lighter than some days. Only drawback were that the greens had been grooved and sanded within prior week or so and hadn't yet recovered.
Amazing gem in the Pacific Northwest
I went to this course after a week or so of stormy weather. I found the first sunny day and decided to check it out (also got an amazing deal for it). What I didn't expect was how amazing the course would be!
It was a bit hilly, but I was still able to walk it easily, and I think the elevation changes create a better experience. The course itself is wide open, and forgiving on most holes, and really dry.
One thing of note, the greens are tough! I recommend getting there before your tee-time and testing out the putting greens. It seemed the greens were aerated within the last month, so they were fast. But the greens themselves are already hilly and challenging. Prepare to live and die by your putter at this course!
~~TL;DR~~
All in all it is a beautiful course, well maintained, gorgeous scenery, and a great balance of challenge and forgiveness!
I will be back very soon!
Great course to play in the winter. Very dry.
I really like playing at Elk Ridge because Golf Now always had great deals on Hot Deals. Now the Hot Deals are not good at all. Its actually cheaper to pay at the course than going through Hot Deals. The course charges $25 and Hot Deals is $30 plus admin. charges. Not such a good deal from Hot Deals.
Wonderful golf course with best wet weather conditions around.
Best and driest wet weather course in SW WA. Great layout. Don't miss the Brisket/Short Rib Burger in the restaurant.

Great winter course, best in the Area.
Great winter course
This is a great winter course in the PNW. Fairways were in great shape. Rough was challenging - lots of rain with little chance to mow. Greens were VERY slow (the only negative). You do not have to be long off the tee to score well. Shot placement is rewarded. Scenic course. Pace of play has always been good (mid day, mid week).
Solid value
Second time playing this course and I honestly believe it's one of the better values in the area. The backdrop and views rival some of the top100 courses I've played and the layout is very well done. Links style course in the gorge. The greens were punched this time and there wasn't a notice but I understand it's October and they weren't terrible but last time I played here they were really good and I look forward to playing many more times.
Windy day
I liked this course but it was so windy that it was a bit uncomfortable. It was so windy that I will likely not plan to go there again. I know that i would enjoy this course very much if it was a day without or mild wind conditions.
