Village Greens Golf Course
About
Village Green Golf Course is an executive, 18-hole course located just 40 minutes north of Tacoma, off of Mill Hill Road in Port Orchard. It's known for being one of the best golf values in the area. The course has a classic design that plays tight but isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper. The small, elevated greens and narrow fairways demand accuracy. The course is ideal for beginners, offering a place to get practice with a variety of different shots. For intermediate players and low handicappers, the course is an excellent place for honing your iron play and working on your short game. There is also a practice facility available at Village Green that includes a covered driving range and putting and chipping greens.

no grass during the summer
i wish they had grass on the fairways.its like the parking lot.
enjoyable
We come to this course as often as we can. Prices are affordable, close to home…finish in 2hrs or less.:)
great place
We love to go here because it is close to home..not expensive and we are in and out in about 2 hrs!! we dont get out to play as much as we would like these days, so it is nice to have something like this close by.:)
Great for beginners
We are trying to learn how to play golf. Great course for this. 3-4 par holes. Not super busy in the later hours.
Pleasantly surprised
First time playing here and we had a great time. There were a few dry spots on the fairways and the greens were a little bumpy. Overall the course is in pretty good shape. The layout was challenging with some tight fairways and raised greens. We plan to go back.
Perfect short course.
We had a lot of fun playing this course. Golf Now map directions were not accurate. Make sure you use something else like Google Maps. The course staff were very nice and still let us play even though we were late due to the directions. The fairways were okay since it was a par 3/4 course. Lots of trees. Greens were challenging with a small surface on many and sloped. We will definitely go again.
Enjoyable
Great course for a relaxing day in the sun. No hurries, just good ol’ golf🥰
love this course
Close to home, good prices and the course has truly been cleaned up since playing last year…nice walking course...
Course Condition
In over 20 years of occasionally playing this course, I don't think the small, postage stamp sized greens have ever been in better shape. Excellent work from the staff.
Village greens
Terrible course. You can literally stand in the middle of the course and see the entire perimeter. The greens were the only thing remotely "green" on the course. Complete disappointment and will never waste any time or money going to this course again.
Fun little local course, needs improvement.
Subpar course, may be a good value for local residents but not for serious traveling golfers. Large patches of burnt grass dot landscapes close to greens, which are deeply sloped and challenging yet to which are fun to hit wedges.
Has a driving range for practice but it is limited to irons only (as is most of the course). Needed only a 3wood, irons wedges and a putter.
Did not see a marshal ONCE during play, got stuck behind a beginner and a foursome...why did they send me out as a single? Gave up after 15 holes, glad I paid only $15 for 18.
Got lost twice playing this tightly packed course, the map and flyers from their "pro shop" helped a little, but still couldn't find the 7th tee box.
Got what I came for, had as much fun as can be expected from a non-marshalled, unwatered course.
Great Place For Beginners or to Brush Up On Your Game
Found VG when my wife decided to take up the game. Great for her, and good training course for me. We appreciate the friendly staff and low key nature and patience of fellow golfers. As a muni, this low cost little gem still could stand some tidying/upgrades to make it even better. Since many who play here are either beginners or others brushing up, I would like to see distances marked better (currently only hard-to-find 75 yd markers on the longer holes) even with paint marks on a tree or simple stakes. Also, fresh paint on markers/signs and a little attention to the tee boxes would spruce it up nicely. Don't get me wrong, I have no complaints. When I want a regulation course I go to one. Just suggesting some inexpensive, functional and esthetic upgrades that will help everyone. We are looking forward to VGs March re-opening (after winter break) as my wife could probably hit a par 3 off the tee now! Enjoy VG like we do!
Not realistic
I like playing par 3 course to work on short game. Unfortunately this isn't a course to do that. Most greens elevated 3-8 feet from fairway or approach area so if you don't hit the green the ball richochet's off somewhere. That's fine if you are a beginner or just starting but when working on approach shots like low spinners, bump and runs, and high soft landings you only have on choice. Greens are slow too. Fun course if just starting or going out to good around. If you want some par 3 practice I'd recommend Highlands over this.
Quaint easy course
They do not water the fairways so they are dry and if you don't want to ruin a club you may have to move your ball off the rocks here and there. Everyone is very pleasant and enjoyable. Most people only need bring a 3, 5 and 9 iron and putter.
Great deal
The course is in great shape . An excellent place to keep your skills honed and doesn't take half the day to play.
Short Game and Itons
Very nice executive course. Fairways blooming with white flowers made it difficult to find ball. Small , elevated greens a challenge. Overall course in very good condition. Great value !!
Surprise find!
Adequately challenging course for us three seniors trying to play straighter and better. Walking was not any problem, and took little less than 3 hours. We'll be back. Just wished it to be closer to home!
Charbro...bite me. I’m a single digit handicap and give honest reviews. Don’t rip on courses too much and don’t make them sound like Taj Mahal either. But Village Greens is not a good course for short game work when so many holes have elevated greens just to make it a challenge.
great course. could be the the players skill level verse the course. If the course is tuff for some maybe that should inspire more play.
