Opened in 1931, Brookdale Golf Course has a classic design that has hosted generations of local golfers. The course features large, undulating greens and wide, rolling fairways lined with old-growth firs. The player-friendly layout is ideal for beginners with wide, open fairways and generous landing areas, but there are still challenges in store on the greens, which are bordered by thick rough and strategically placed bunkers. There are several interesting holes with downhill approaches to the green. It may not be what you're looking for if you want a truly formidable test, but Brookdale is a fun and forgiving golf course where high handicappers can build their confidence. Located just 20 minutes south of Tacoma, it is one of the most affordable rounds in the area.

Great course to play
We play this course when we can get a mid week hot deal. The staff is always great and friendly. The club house is a charming older building with decent food. The course is easy to play with wide fairways and very few hazards. The greens, tee boxes and fairways are in good shape but get off the fairway and the grass is very tall and dry. We got paired up with two very nice guys making it a foursome. Playing on the slower side we let the faster pairs behind us play past something I wish more golfers would do when they are holding up play. This course has great views of Mt Rainier and you will see plenty of air force jets doing fly byes.
this is a older course and is always fun course to play
Golf Now disadvantages
I am a VIP Golf Now member, and happy with it, but as a result of my Golf Now available tee times are bunched together so that all Golf Now users are slotted for noon to 1 p.m. As a result the course is crowded during these times.
Excellent value
This course gives plenty of challenge from the blue tees. Tree lined fairways and thick rough adds to the fun. Plenty of birdie opportunities.
Great little course.
Perfect course to bring your youngster to learn the game. Wide open fairways and it’s not too hard to find your ball if you are spraying it everywhere. I hear they are closing at the end of the year so I don’t think maintenance is a big concern for them at this time. It was like hitting off concrete on most of the course. My Dad taught me how to play on this course in my early 20’s. It holds sentimental value which is well above 5 star. Sad to see it go.
Pack em in
Course was in good condition but the staff packed us in so tight it took almost 3 hours to play the front nine.
Friendly local golf course
Not a lot of water features and some sand. Fairly long. Great basic course for all levels of player.
Pace of play
I could never figure out why, but the pace of play was terrible. Two of the players in our group left after nine .It would have beeb really nice if there had been a marshall.
Some challenges, worth the visit
The course is, for the most part, wide-open. The greens are in good shape. The back nine is challenging and makes the whole course worth the trip.
Nice course
It started raining at first; but the Weather changed later.
I enjoyed my Birthday treat at this Course.
Standing tall since 1938
Always a fun round at Brookdale, played after the senior club tournament so the course was in great shape.
The weather was perfect and the golfing always fun. The course is in good shape.
Yuck
Unfortunately I did not have anything nice to say about my recent golf outing at Brookdale. We teed off at 12:15 on a Wednesday and after nine holes we were on 6 hour pace. 6 hour pace is not acceptable ever especially midday during a work week. On hole 6 we called the club house and asked if a marshal could be sent out to see if there was a group holding everyone up. We were told it was very busy and they did not agree to send out a marshal. After nine holes we asked for a rain check for the back nine and the staff gave it to us. We left. I don’t know that I’ll be back because of this experience and that the course is closing. I have played Brookdale many times and I will miss it once it’s gone but this last time leaves a bad taste in my mouth and bad memory.
Very quiet, it felt private.
Great value and no one was there. Rumor has it that it could be sold an go away, which would be a shame....
