Links at Lawsonia Golf Course
About
Lawsonia Golf Course boasts two championship 18-hole courses, the Links and the Woodlands. These two contrasting designs both offer a challenging round amongst historic landmarks and abundant wildlife. The Links Course will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. Many of the holes replicate famous Scottish and English golf holes, giving it a character that is reminiscent of the golf courses played in the British Open. In order to mimic the open feel of a traditional links course, trees were removed and contours were shaped and molded into the landscape. Just like any links course, the layout is especially tough if the wind is blowing hard. The golf course covers a range of elevation changes providing rolling fairways and multi-tiered, often elevated, greens. More than 90 bunkers are strategically placed throughout, and there is also deep rough to contend with.

Challenging with elevated greens and deep bunkers. A must play if you are in the area.
The course is always a challenge for the average golfer with fast undulating greens and deep bunkers. Fairway bunkers and high mounds are well placed to catch errant drives. A poor shot at the wrong time can cost dearly.
This is a challenging higher end course.
The course was in generally great condition. Some of the greens had considerable winter kill and still show the results. 5 stars to the Starter and the Beverage Cart.
British Open golf nearby.
Very challenging. Firm greens, deep bunkers and elevated greens. Many doglegs and changes in elevation create some blind shots. Fairway bunkers and fescue add to difficulty. Bring your short game or stay home.
Great value
There are a few blind tee shots, but no trick shot or gimmick holes. You earn your pars. Fairways were in excellent shape and a couple greens were still recovering from a brutal spring.
Not as good as usual
I play Lawsonia a few times a season and am usually quite pleased with course conditions. Having played other courses in the area earlier and finding them to be in really good condition, I was surprised to find the Links course in such poor shape. Greens were often grass-less and there was a lot of un-repaired winter kill in fairways and rough. Perhaps the Woodlands is in better condition, but I feel that $50 was way too much to pay for the Links so far this year.
Worth every cent
Lawsonia is amazing. I wouldn't necessarily choose it if you are an 18 handicapnor above, because of the difficulty level... but even if you are, you will love the course. Just not your score
Expired soda, group hangout for staff,
Staff- Young non disciplined staff. Upon arrival to the course one of the employee that was working with the carts had his girlfriend sitting on his lap making out while on the clock. Upon entrance to the clubhouse my group waited at the counter while employees sat on a couch in the back room in clear view of myself and my group hanging out for about 5 minutes even after they observed us waiting at the counter. While on the course I was given an expired soda of about 6 months by the cart girl, I went into the club house at the turn to exchange the soda. This time I asked for a lemonade and noticed that even the lemonade was expired by 4 months, the bar tender then had to dig for a non expired drink and was not apologetic at all, which its not her fault but I think an apology was at least in order.
Course- In a little rough shape, (its the end of the year)
Fairways- were not the best kept
Greens- Must have been frozen that day which it was cold out but the greens could not hold a ball at all. Putts were rolling 20 feet bye on 7 foot putts.
Bunkers- were not raked and in rough shape
Carts- have a hand held range finder attached to the cart
I paid $60 and was disappointed
For other links course's I recommend Royal St. Patrick's over this course
Beautiful course, Narrow fairways.
This is a beautiful course. Tough greens, lots of hidden hazzards. Course was in great condition.
The pace of play was a little slow.
Unfortunately my skill level was not in keeping with this course.
I will play a more forgiving course in the future.
