Silver Spring Golf & Banquet Center in Menomonee Falls boasts 36 holes of championship golf. Opened in 1986, the Island Course is the original course that was later joined by the equally challenging Falls Course in 1995. The Falls Course, formerly known as the East Course, is characterized by the abundance of both sand and water. Accuracy is essential in order to maneuver past the numerous ponds and strategically placed bunkers. It is considerably shorter than the Island Course, but don't underestimate this course. The layout offers a good balance of challenges while also being playable for a wide range of skill levels. In addition to the two golf courses, Silver Spring also has a comprehensive facility that includes a two-tiered driving range and an expansive putting green.

Really nice course overall
This course has become one of my favorites and is considered to be like a good friend, it is a course that challenges and yet satisfies. She's a winner for me!
Great value for the condition of the course
I understand that the course is under new ownership. A great improvement since the last time I played there (about a year ago).
Very scenic course.
Tee boxes on most holes are not very well maintained. We played on a super hot day and there were no cart girls/guys on the course.
A good weekday workout and a good value.
The course was interesting, and a few holes were challenging, but overall, the course was average. The pace of play was slow due to some very casual weekday golfers. I had to skip one hole as a slow 3-some did not want me to play through, but then I was able to play at a reasonable pace. Par 3's are fair and challenging. Par 5's are makeable pars. Par 4's are mostly opportunities for birdies.
good features
Played twilight from 4:56pm. Good features an friendly staff. Will play again there.
Big Bang/$!!
Exceptionally well organized & cared for, particularly considering very dreary/damp weather. Pace great. Definitely a top value!
empty
wonderful afternoon of golf, at least midweek, with the course basically to ourselves.
Not a course it you like to use your driver. I'm no a long hitter but still only hit my driver 4 times in 18 holes.
The greens were nice but the overall layout of the course is poor. There were 2 different occations where my drive was in the fairway but had no shot to the green due to overhanging limbs from trees too close to the fairway. Punching out when your in the middle of the fairway is not the way I like to play. Also there were 3 holes where you couldn't see the green let alone the pin from the middle of the fairway because the green was atop a huge hill. Also there were an excessive amount of bare areas on the sides of the greens that should have been seeded in the spring.
good, but I do not rave about it
Played the Falls course and it is in good shape though one or two of the greens had a few areas that needed a little attention.
Having played this before the new management took it over, one can see the prices have gone up, the GPS on the carts removed, so finances seem to be a little more of an issue.
definitely worth playing if you get a discount.
Also, beware local road work on Silver Spring road (totally unpassable and 100% blocked off), so have to take Town Line to get to the course (only one way in and out-so check maps before leaving home!)
Great pace of play
Although the pace was quick and the course was in relatively good condition, I do not enjoy playing this course. There is water on a majority of holes that either require a lay up drive or a large carry. The 17th hole fairway is extremely narrow. There is also very little difference in yardage for gold vs silver tees. Making it short for men & longer for women. A better course if you want to practice your iron tee shots.
average ,the island course is a much nicer tract
play the island course you will be disappointed with the falls
This course has some great features.
The Falls course at Silver Spring CC has some great features. Many of the holes are guarded admirably by water, yet they are short enough to tempt those with the go-for-broke attitude on the course. Because of some of the tempting holes, this pace of play on this course is usually horrible. There are always guys, who don't recognize their strengths and weaknesses on the course waiting to hit, because they think that they are going to hit the green on the 290 yard par four. Those are the guys who then proceed to hit a 50 yard drive.
A real calling card to the course was its GPS system. They have gotten rid of them this year and the pricing has remained the same. This is unfortunate, because this course isn't marked well enough not to have the GPS.
Because this course is seen by most to be a good value for the dollar, it attracts golfers of all skill-sets and etiquette levels. Yesterday, we got behind a threesome who all must have thought that they were getting paid to putt. Not only would it take them forever to get to the green, but once on the green, that is where the agony began for us. We had not yet teed off of the eighth and we saw them driving up the ninth fairway. We waited in the ninth fairway nearly 10 minutes while these three yahoos putted. It was brutal. Luckily, they went the wrong way down the hill to the tenth fairway and we got in front of them. As we were about to tee off on 10, they pulled up and began to hold conversations before, during and after our swings.
Unfortunately for the new ownership at SSCC, my time here will be very infrequent this year and in years to come if things don't get cleaned up. Last year, I played nearly half (roughly 20) of all of my rounds of golf between the Falls and the Island courses. That certainly will not be the case this year. I will probably play the Island once this year and that will do it.
Also, some of the fairways have seemed to take a beating from the harsh winter and horrible spring that we are experiencing.
Short course with some difficult carries off the tee.
An off season warm day gave a number of players one last chance to play before the snow flies. Considering that management was in course close down for the season mode the course was in terrific shape.
Nice little course
Nice little course, very nice @ $22.50 riding. It's short but there is enough trouble to get your attention. There are 3 par 4s, 9 13 & 18 that will give you all you want especially in the wind. It can play somewhat slow at times.
A good course for a quick round
Some challenging holes mixed into a short course. Fun to play. Usually plays pretty quickly. A great place to play a quick round or make a last minute tee time.
Value for the money if not overbooked.
The course is shorter, but makes up for it with well placed hazards.
Watch for overbooking. When the course is booked heavy, they'll put foursomes out every 5 minutes if possible.
