Friday special
Tee time was 10;48 and we started on time, but with the slow players in front of us and in front of them. We were waiting on every tee box up to 5 to 7 minutes. course was in excellent conditions and generally had a good time, other than the wait/
Great track
This course is always fun to play. With the river running through it the two different nines make it extremely fun and challenging. Always in good condition and a great old clubhouse.
Fun and beautiful course
Nice green green grass field specially to a guy like me from dry southern California.
Many singles and groups of 2, we had to let couple of them pass our group because we were 4.
Great experience away from California.
Beautiful Course
I absolutely loved playing on this course. The fairways and greens were very well kept. The only issue was the pace became quite long due to constant waiting.
No Carts....Joking Right???
We got to the course of half hour before our tee time. The tee time was 18 holes with a cart... I was quickly informed that they didn't have any carts. I said how can a golf course not have enough carts? I asked don't you have enough carts for the players.... the kid behind the counter said yes we do.... I said you just told me you didn't and he said Don't Kill the Messenger. I just asked him to answer the question honestly and he didn't. I've been playing here for 40 years. It's always in very good shape and the greens were very nice shape and fast. They did give me a rain check for nine holes cart rental. Big deal it's a long drive for me 9 and a 1/2 dollar credit. I said just buy me a beer and we'll call it even and they couldn't do that. Very disappointed in their customer service.
Solid course
The course layout was fun to play. Lots of interesting holes and a good mix of par 3s 4s and 5s. The club house was nice and the staff was friendly. Pace of play was a little slow, but that was due to it being a busy Sunday afternoon. The course conditions were rough. Frequent patches of dandelions and the dirt patches in the fairway.
Deserves all the rave reviews
Add me to the list of rave reviews for this little gem. It deserves all of them. Needed a place to play while in Milwaukee, and when the University Club proved unwelcoming, decided to trek down to Racine to play this course due to it's high rating, and was not disappointed. The grass was still lush and green amidst the bright Fall colors of mid-October, conditions very nice. Greens had been plugged a week or two prior but didn't detract from the fun. As advertised, charming layout in the country, felt like a hidden sanctuary. Course plays longer in some ways than the yardage shows, since some par 4s are fairly short, but others very long, including a couple par 5s that push 600 yds from the back tees. Got matched up with a real pleasant gentleman and just had the greatest afternoon of golf. Play moved along well on a Sat afternoon, especially the back nine which opened right up. Although I didn't join the fun, the clubhouse was very festive and drinks flowing despite covid bull. I would be honored to play with my new found friend again. Thanks Johnson Park for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon
Fun Public Course
This is a great old course with challenging holes for all golfers. Hidden in a park that has been there a while, the course has few houses or other signs of people around it . You feel like you are away from everyone. Lots of trees and the Root River runs through the course - it is beautiful and walkable. We played in the Fall. Greens were in good shape, but the fairways were worn.
Johnsons park at Is always a great golf course to golf always enjoy it
