Welcome back! Good times roll.
Haven’t played this course in 7 years since I moved to Myrtle Beach. Great to come back to George Dunne Golf Course! I live in Texas now. Love the course. In excellent condition except for the Sand traps. Staff is great! Loved the starter’s overview. Kudos to Bill the Starter.
Dunne is Done
Course was not very well maintained. To a point where I am shocked that we had to pay full price for a round of 18 holes. Bunkers were in awful shape. More than half the bunkers on the course had standing water in them or were not raked or simply looked like that hadn’t been maintained in weeks. The greens were incredibly slow as well. Very disappointing round to be completely blunt. I likely will not be returning to play again.
Course
Course condition very good. My favorite course in this area. Very challenging with friendly staff.
Great place!
Course was in tip top shape. Cart path only which slows you down but worth it given the condition of the course. You will be hitting over water and many of the holes have sand on 3 sides of the green.
Great course a must play
Really challenging layout which requites a variety of shot and strategy to score.
Back nine fail
Pretty nice course in the south burbs but unfortunately the threesome in front of us was not concerned about pace of play. Numerous shots and looked for balls too long. The back nine took 3 hours after a solid front nine. Pretty solid greens for the lack of rain and very nice personnel on the course. They need to not be as nice and crack the whip!
Favorite course
This corse has a insane amount of bunkers! If you want a challenge here you go.
Good as always sans the bunkers
Love this course and the layout. Tees fairways and greens in good shape. Bunkers always need work. They just can’t keep sand in them.
This course has big greens
Good value for the money. Avoid the bunkers is a must very inconsistent. It’s definitely a penalty if you get in the bunkers. I don’t think anyone rakes anymore. Friendly staff. I’ll definitely play here again. Par 5’s are okay. Par 4’s are great. Par 3’s are pretty good. Greens rolled nice. Just make sure when playing you get out early otherwise it’ll be slow going.
Bunkers need work
George Dunne has always been one of my favorite local courses. It is reasonably priced and it is long and challenging. The greens are large and have a lot of character. This year the grass didn’t seem to be in as good of shape as it usually is and the bunkers need serious work. There are just too many and they are massive, which makes them harder to maintain. I would like to see them turn a few bunkers into grass bunkers. I will play again, however it isn’t on the top of my list,
Great course
I try to play George Dunne a few times a year. Weather was cool 41f but only about 8 people on the course. About 4 GolfNow tee times for 34 dollars the rest were over 60 dollars to much for this time of year.. a real championship course where you can only see the hole you are playing. So great layout nice greens good bunkers.
Also it is long from the back over 7,000 yards I play the whites about 6,200. It’s a fun course with plenty of challenges
Good Course, scenic
This property is not littered with any homes. It’s a gem of a course close to downtown. Many holes are surrounded by forest preserve and deer sightings are common. There are water hazards on several holes and some tight fairways so your tee shots really matter. My only complaint is the bunkers have not been raked in what seemed to be since 1969. It was still a great day in late November. I will play here again and again. Dan
This course has great features
Always enjoy playing this course, a great layout. End of year conditions so balls hard to find in the leaves and bunkers almost not playable but greens nice and fairly fast.
George Dunne
Course was in great shape for time of year. Greens were in great condition and rolling great.
The best course
Scenic and challenging
