course remodel success
I have not played here in 2 years due to very poor course conditions. Course was closed last year and they accomplished vastly improved conditions; beautiful grass covering fairways, few cosmetic improvements. I enjoyed finding fuzzy chippable grass surrounding the greens
Improving
Appreciate Hibiscus efforts to address course deficiencies ie…. grass in fairways that is actually green due to new irrigation system, back nine greens that are now decent , and bunkers, even though sand is too deep and inconsistent. Front nine greens still patchy and marginally good but far from anything that would resemble quality . Course layout and design is actually pretty good with much potential. Happy hour, restaurant and bar is very good! Suggest that money they are saving by NOT providing a cup for water and ice be dumped back into improving the front nine greens ( come on… really?). Staff friendly and accommodating! Overall….. improved over last year but still needs work.. Oh by the way,,, playing it again Wednesday!
Price
Course transformation after all of the improvements this past summer were impressive. New carts with GPS are nice. Range needs more targets and a small bucket of balls should be complimentary considering the cost to play 18 holes during prime time.
Disappointed in conditions
I’ve played Hibiscus several times, but this time I was disappointed. The tee boxes and fairways were in decent shape, but the greens have several bare spots.
Golfing in the Naples area has really gotten expensive in recent years. I got a “good” deal on this round ($90.00 for a GolfNow hot deal)., but it was barely worth it. At least I didn’t pay the $154.00 regular rate.
We were paired with two nice older ladies who struggled to keep pace, but we were only 15 minutes or so behind at the turn. Two groups ahead of us were waiting on the 10th tee, which delayed us another 15 minutes. At the 15th hole, the ranger told me we were 29 minutes behind and asked me (not us) to do what we could to go faster. (This 29 minutes included the 15 minutes we waited on the 10th tee). When we finished 16, the group behind us wasn’t yet on the tee. We didn’t appreciate being blamed for not keeping pace.
I would do it again
Enjoyed the course. Unfortunately had to deal with a stiff wind which made some of the longer holes unreachable at times. I would love to play this challenging course again in ideal weather.
they get cheap on you
No cups for water. carts that quit if you go off track, but no adequate warning that you are off track. If someone hadn't been there who had had the problem before, and told us to go backward, we would still be sitting there on the course. Ridiculous. I will find a better place to play.
Fairways
Sadly, it was the lowest priced golf course in the Naples area even i paid $105 for the round!
For this price, I could play top courses in New Jersey.
Overall, the course has a nice layout with some challenging holes.
I was paired with 3 guys on vacation from Marco Island. We had an early tee time 7:30 and we had no issues with the pace.
If you're in the area, I would recommend to play here. They also offer rental clubs.
Golfing at Hibiscus
In realize the course was recently remodeled, we enjoyed the course The European bartender was very rude to my wife when she went in for crackers and was told there was no food on the course. My wife said I just need crackers. The bartender said. Oh!!! Like these. Here. Then there was silence. And my wife said n Are they free? Tender said no. They are $$$. We were going to stay for dinner but decided not to
Disappointed
Played here years ago and had fun. Was excited to read the course had been closed for extensive reno.
Well we were disappointed with the fairways and greens. Lots of bare spots on the fairways, and fungus on many greens and rough was just that, rough. Oh well, off the list. Met a nice couple to pkay with and the staff was super friendly.
The course is in much better shape than 2023
Enjoyable and course is in great shape!
I did not like the cost of play normally $150+ but played on St Patricks day. for $134+tax
Folks are friendly and helpful.
I did not appreciate the no soft cooler policy which carries my much-needed water, Gatorade, and snacks but they prefer you buy at the club house and refreshment cart.
