Worth the one hour drive!
TP is in the best shape of any course the public can play in the Huntsville area. The greens, which were a tad firm, are smooth and the fairways provide nice lies. You can find and hit shots which end up in the rough. We played the gold tees, and the slope rating (114) seems just a tad low because there are some real challenges on the back 9.
Word of caution on the par 5 9th hole: This hole is reachable in 2, but If you pull your second shot left, it will likely kick left OB and roll across the street.
The staff was extremely nice- if I lived in Cullman, I'd join this club.
Second Time on this course
A return trip to this course was just as good as the first. It was more than an interesting layout with plenty of water to clean your balls. The course was in great shape for this time of the year. It was a challenging course to play and not in the easy course sense. Looking for the next time I go back
A country club member for a day
I play TP Country Club once every year and always look forward to it. The greens and fairways are in wonderful shape, despite the lack of rain. The rough in October is not so high you lose multiple balls. However, plenty of hardwood trees line all fairways so errant tee shots may settle under leaves.
One of the best courses I've played
The course is a fantastic challenge. Beautiful. Interesting elevation changes. Fairly narrow fairways. Immaculate greens. Plenty of water. Some blind tee and approach shots. Top notch!
Fun Course
This was the first time I have played at Terri Pines, but it will not be the last. The course was in great shape and most of the holes were challenging and made you have to think where the ball needed to be hit. We have had a lot of rain in this area and the greens were very soft, which made it fun to attack the pins! The staff was very friendly and they made you feel really welcome. This course should be on every golfers bucket list in this area.
Great course, great value
TP country club is a beautiful and challenging golf course. Though not a long course, it does demand accuracy, keeping it fun for people with average distance without sacrificing challenging holes. Loved the elevation changes, very pretty. The staff is also top notch. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly and accommodating. After the hot deal I paid $26 and some change, and you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal than that anywhere in Alabama. I will definitely be back, quite regularly I'd imagine.
Good course if traveling north or south on I-65
I was traveling through the area for work and got the hot deal for around $20, plus fees. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Greens were the best part. The bunkers needed a lot of attention. I was not ecstatic about the overall layout of the course. I played the white tees, and should have played the back tees. I would recommend if you can get for the right price. I would not play for $50, which I think is the standard green fees. Lastly, I think there is a lot better courses in north Alabama if your wanting elevation (Cherokee Ridge or Gunters Landing, etc.).
User friendly course.
Played from the white tees. Very fair for those of us that can't bomb our drives anymore. Some very scenic holes from elevated tees. Not for walkers though.
Worth the effort!
My group and I decided to play Terri Pines the day after two inches of rain fell so the course was as expected wet in may locations and it was cart path only. However, having said that, the course was beautiful and challenging. Water on many holes but not bothersome if you stay in the fairway. Overall the course is in great shape and is very rewarding to those who can hit it fairly straight. Staff are friendly and outgoing and the food is great. Easy to get to off I-65. Highly recommended!
Fun challenge
The course itself is in great shape. Greens had been aerated the previous week so they were still recovering but were as to be expected with nice well kept greens. Fairways are tight and well groomed. The rough is playable, thick and lush but not overly so. Tee boxes were very flat and not torn up like many public courses. Lots of trees, and if you get into them, in many places you have to play laterally or backwards to get back to the fairway. There are lots of up and down hills. The facilities are like any older country club. Overall, this course is very tough but very playable and fun. Lots of opportunities to work the ball and shape shots. I would be paying for a membership if it wasn't such a long drive from the house. The hot deal made up for that ten fold. And during football season, Saturday afternoon is a great time to play.
Excellent Value
Very challenging course and great value. They have very nice facilities to support the golf course
Great course
Staff was super friendly, the course was in great shape. Greens well kept but a little slow so you have to be aggressive on a few. Fairways perfect, challenging holes but I had a great day and a great time. Well worth the 39 min drive from Huntsville, without costing you a fortune to play like the RTJ courses in season! Will definitely play again!
Love the elevation changes
I was very impressed with this course. From the layout and elevation changes to the condition of the course, I really enjoyed my round at TP CC. Look forward to going back soon. Would highly recommend.
Challenging course
If you have a fear of water this course will keep you in suspense. A very challenging course with some very interesting elevation changes, some from the tee boxes and others on approaching the greens
You need to keep it in the fairway on this course, if not you are going to be frustrated and will need extra balls because you are going to sacrifice a few to the water hazards.
All that being said I can't wait to play it again, I haven't had this much fun or felt this challenged in a long time.
Also, the staff is great, very friendly and courteous.
Nice course & friendly staff.
Very friendly staff. We played (3 people) after a lot of rain, sleet, & snow over the past week. Despite the soggy conditions, the course was nice and the greens were very good with nice speed. Plenty of "danger", if you spray it around, but fair. You'll also get a good workout if you walk. Glad they're using Golfnow.com and I will be coming back soon.
TP Country Club!
Make sure and try the 19th Tee! Best food and bar around!
Goode shape for mid winter play
It was a very enjoyable round from everything starting with cost through pace of play.
Beautiful and Challenging
Terri Pines is beautiful and well maintained golf course. It is a very challenging course, so bring lots of golf balls if you do not play "fairway golf". The staff is very friendly and accomodating to their guests. In addition, the course provides easily accessible bathroom facilities on both the front and back nine.
