Montevallo Golf Club

Beautiful location for a golf course! Saying that there were some things I feel that could be better. For one there are no water stations for when golfers get to hot and need a drink so you better bring a cooler when you go. Second the tee boxes are in very poor condition, really hard to get a tee in the ground. Third and last some of the greens have small weeds coming up through them so it’s really hard to know how hard you should hit a putt. Overall enjoyed my time on the course and it sits up on a mountain so the breeze was amazing In the real hot weather. I would golf here again.

We showed up for our round in absolute pouring rain. Clubhouse attendant was very helpful and told us we could tee off when we wanted becausr of torrential downpour. Played first 2 in rain, next 16 played without a drop. Course was in great shape, course personnel was excellent. We will definitely be back and will check radar first! Thanks to the folks at MCC

Golf now does NOT work with this course. You WILL PAY TWICE. Mosquitos will eat you alive. Water all over the fairway so wear your mud boots.

This course is maintained by the University of Montevallo located in Montevallo Alabama. I am an alumni of UM and first played this course when it was only 9 holes in the 1990's. It operated for a short time as a 12 hole course. It is now 18 holes and gets regular local play. The layout is challenging at times but overall it is very enjoyable. I would recommend for the beginner who does not want to be intimidated. The patrons are friendly and the crew in the clubhouse are very accommodating. You will feel at home here. Its nothing fancy but it is a fun round of golf. The price is right. Go tee it up at UM Golf Course.

I had to rate course conditions were good not excellent at the time only because the day before there was a tremendous storm. Surprisingly only 5 holes were cart-path-only and all others were dry. I will definitely be back soon!

Greens had been aerated recently so automatic 2-putts. Enjoyed the layout, especially scenic par-3's

We have not been playing this course this year because of how bad the greens were last year. Well we couldn’t get a tee time anywhere on short notice so we decided to give them a call. Ray at the front desk told us that they have spent a lot of money replacing the greens in the last month. Well we believe him and gave it another chance. Well nothing has changed other that there is a 6x6 square every other green or so that has been replaced. The rest of the greens are all in terrible shape some of the worst I’ve ever seen! It’s cheap, but save your money I wouldn’t play there if they paid me from now on. Very disappointed!

Greens pathetic for years now. The layout is great but the course is in awful shape. Poor 1/10. Greens 0/10 it’s amazing how bad they have done with the greens. Can’t even cut the tee boxes. It’s bad when you are having to knock knee high weeds down from a tee box

Montevallo Golf Club may not be in top condition, lots of bare spots, and some newly seeded greens, but it is a challenging smaller course. Two par threes with elevated tees, one surrounded by water, are great fun. The last two dog legged par fives will challenge any player. Greens fees are very reasonable. If your ball lands on one of the bare spots, move it a few yards onto the grass. This may be against some golfers self rules but courses are supposed to have all grass fairways.

When you want a fast , decent round, check this course out.

The greens were horrible, vey inconsistent, everywhere on the course except the t- boxes was hard as rock, dryed up dirt and hard pan surfaces, I"d pay 10$ at the most to even considering playing here again.

This might be the hilliest course we have played, making for some very interesting shots. It was very wet the day we played, after a night of very heavy rain. Hard to tell how good the fairways would be if they were dry, but there seemed to be a lot of bare patches. The greens were slow, and soft from the rain. Worth another try in drier times.
