Friendliest Staff, Unplayable Conditions
Really sad to see this course in the current conditions it’s been in for the last few months. I lost multiple balls in the fairway filled with crab grass, tee boxes were as long as a typical courses rough, and the greens were filled with sand. The staff is super friendly but it’s clear they aren’t given the proper resources to maintain what could be a great course
Aweful condition
This course was in terrible condition teeboxes were over grown, tee would barely be in the ground and the grass covered the ball, fairways were the height of the rough, grass on the green was either non existent or two inches high. However, I genuinely think if they took care of the course it would be so much more fun
They should pay you to play
I grew up in college playing this course very often and lsu should be embarrassed the course is in this shape.
The greens had sand and goose feces all over the place.
I hit 4 balls in the middle of the fairway and could not find them because it looks like they haven’t cut the grass in a month
You could not distinguish the tee boxes on certain hole
They should pay you to play there!!! And my round was only $15
16-18 is basically unplayable
Poorly maintained
This place isn't what it used to be. Balls were lost in the middle of fairways, greens we're in bad shape, the tee boxes were longer than the rough on some holes. The photo I uploaded was on #3. The fairway bunker on #6 was completely overgrown with waist high weeds. Lightening started around #15 for us and we just decided to leave without finishing. It's rained a lot recently but other courses in the area don't look nearly this bad. We won't be back until conditions improve.
Not what it used to be
Course is poorly maintained. We've had a good bit of rain lately but balls were lost in the middle of fairways, greens we're in rough shape and some of the tee boxes were longer than the rough... We won't be back here until conditions improve. For the money, you're better off playing a BREC course.
Easy access
The course is not a high end facility but great to work on multiple shots and usually not very packed so easy to get a tee time and if playing alone to work on your game I’d suggest it.
Until this spring, the greens were almost unplayable due to very poor maintenance. However they have been very decent lately. I asked the pro about it and he said they’ve finally been given a budget to get the course back to a once pretty decent reputation.
Just remember you get what you pay for and a Sunday full green fee with cart is only $32!!
Good course, could use a little TLC
The greens are not the best, quite a bit of sand. But other than that I enjoyed it!
First time here
I don't want to be too hard on a college course because I know these facilities don't get the same attention as the money maker sports but the course was in pretty rough shape. the whole place could use a fair bit of upgrading and repair. I did enjoy my round though. Its always nice to get out and play. The weather was hot as is to be expected in Louisiana but a nice breeze kept it from being a miserable, muggy day.
Greens are lumpy
$20 was a great deal, but the greens need some work
Unplayable
Played LSU many times over the years.
Sad to see the neglect and lack of funding to keep the course up.
In its current state, it is unplayable because the greens are beyond bad shape - clumps of grass, sand, dirt piles, sods of grass thrown out in random pattern…... Really “unputtable”.
And for any avid golfer, best to go anywhere else because these are the worst greens you’ll ever see.
If you are considering this place...DONT!!!
This is without a doubt the worst course I have ever played. You could not even putt on the greens they were so bad. I paid $36 per player for 2 players prior to seeing the course. I wouldn't play here ever again even if it was free. Its that bad! I gave it a 1 star rating only because ZERO stars was not an option.
Course Condition
The course really isn’t taken care of and the greens are in horrible shape. However, if you have you kids, it is a great course to let your kids get some experience without all the pressure of trying to keep pace with other golfers. My kids really enjoyed it, but not good for the avid golfer at all.
Getting better
I have been at LSU for the last 2 years and the amount this course has improved is promising. When campus was closed due to COVID, so was the course. It sat for nearly six months with no upkeep and was quite over grown when it opened back up. With primarily student workers and no help from the University, the course conditions are steadily improving. The tee boxes have been great every time I’ve played them recently, the fairways are continuing to improve with consistent mowing, and greens are shaping up to be decent once the winter grass dies out. I used to lose about 3 balls a round off drives in the rough and recently have had much better luck with the lower cut. I am excited to see how this course turns out once the grass starts growing again.
