Timberlane Golf & Recreation
About
When Timberlane Golf & Recreation opened in 1959 as Timerlane Country Club, it was the first private golf club on the west bank of the Mississippi. The oaks planted at that time have beautifully matured, adding to both the scenery and difficulty of the golf course. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the course, crafting a challenging test that has been ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in the country. You'll have to contend with 80 strategically placed sand bunkers and 17 different water hazards. While the course is not overly punishing, you'll have to be prepared to have every aspect of your game tested. Before tackling Timberlane''s golf course you may find it helpful to warm up using the club's all-grass driving range and you can use the large putting green to practice with putting, chipping, and sand play.

Good shape!
A few months ago, heard the course was not in good shape. Played with 2 regulars and found the tee boxes, fairways and greens in pretty decent shape. The only drawback was all the sand traps were hard-pan, making greenside bunker shots very challenging. Impressed by big turnaround by superintendent and staff!! Keep up the great work!
Fun Round
Course was a little wet but was still 90 Degree rule, which is amazing. Course was in good shape. Greens could use a little upkeep.
Nice day on the links
The course is in great shape. Greens were very nice and slightly fast. Only negative was there were 4 twosomes in front of us. I wish the starter, here and elsewhere, would pair them up. It makes for a more enjoyable round. Play Timberlane. You will enjoy it.
Nice course
Course was in decent shape and pretty green considering all the cold weather we had recently. Some spots on some of the greens had been worked on and hadn’t recovered fully but it wasn’t enough to affect play. The cart path was really bumpy and should probably be replaced. I caught a great deal on Golf Now otherwise I am not sure I would pay full price for this course.
Love Timberlane
When the weather has been good leading up to your round at Timberlane you guaranteed an enjoyable round of golf. I say that because Timberlane has little to no drainage so if it's been raining for multiple days just before your round it'll be a slop fest. I played in the middle of one of the best weather periods of the year and the course was in great condition and although there were a lot of players the pace of play was pretty good.
The back 9 could use some attention, the bridges between 10 & 11, and the foot bridge between 15 & 16 need some work. Rotten/ damaged lumber on both.
Excellent condition
I was surprised to see that the rough wasn't overgrown as many courses are these days. Greens had a few bad spots but were playable.
Meh
For 30 bucks you can lose balls in the rough where glass clippings are. The greens are slow and scarred. The fairways are fuzzy and long. Play it for less than 40. They are trying at least ( looking at you Stonebridge)
Saturday Shambles
Terrible condition. Fairways uncut, greens were not puttable. Spend your money else where. Course has a good layout just 0 $ seems to be reinvested in the course. Needs complete overhaul of cart paths and greens.
Terrible shape and value
TPC Louisiana is much better value. This course is completely trash and needs to be completely redone.
Summer Golf
Course was okay! Greens were not in very good shape. There were a couple that were okay but the rest were beat down. There are no rakes in the traps so landing in a footprint is common. The main bathrooms are still out of order and the Port O Johns are gross.
Not everything was negative, fairways and T boxes were ok and the carts are reliable. We had a good time even if the course wasn't perfect. It's currently BYOB so that's a savings.
Good-morning and thankyou for taking the time to leave us an honest review! The greens when you played were in a transition phase where the winter grass transitions to summer grass! Unfortunately this is something we can't avoid every year. We have started the process of summer grass and aerification as of last week. They should be normal and rolling great very soon! We do not use sand rakes here, We have a local rule that allows you to improve your lie in the bunker. We apologize about the bathroom situation. We have been waiting on our contractor to finish the bathrooms for us for a short while now. Due to material shortages this has taken a bit longer than we had wished for! We do have multiple fully functioning bathrooms on each side of the golf course. Thankyou and we hope to see you back when our course is at our standard!
Goodmorning, TPC and Timberlane are no where near each other cost wise as TPC Charges 200+ dollars and we charge under 100, about 58+ tax. That price on the weekend is in our opinion a steal! TPC is also
a PGA course. During the time you played our course we also gave a significant discount including free lunch due to our greens being freshly aerified just two days before. We did notify everyone of this before they booked and when they checked in. Aerification happens to every golf course and is pertinent to the longevity of the greens. We are sorry you had a bad experience and we hope you try us again in the future when our greens are up to our standard. Thankyou!
