this is a excellent course to play for the money and it has some of the best greens i have played on in the baton rouge louisiana area
Little Gem
I had a day off and got on golf now and found a tee time for $13. Thought to myself, "why not... if it's terrible, it will feel like I am playing Webb for a third of the price." Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Zachary, this 9 hole course plays quite challenging. I apologize for the long review, but I am bored.
Layout: Its a 9 hole course with the longest being 530-550ish. Average par 4 would be around 340-360s. Front 9 plays from white markers, and the back 9 plays from blue. You are playing the same holes but from different yardages. Different from area courses, but you don't really feel like its the same hole.
Roughs: Avoid them like the plague. They don't look "rough" (no pun intended), but they are rough. Play 2-3 clubs stronger... Something I am not use to doing in roughs around BR. This hurt me more than anything. Very different.
Tee Boxes: Pretty worn. they could manage to change them a little more frequently, but I understand that they're working with limited tee box space. No factor. I just moved my tee back a few yards.
Fairways: Pretty much the only down side of the course. They had a monsoon the day before so I am going to try and be reasonable in this section. Fairways were worn (like just dirt) on the sides of some of the fairways. Fairways were pretty compact despite all the rain. They were well maintained though. Additional yardage indicators would be a nice addition.
Bunkers: Will have to play when they aren't waterhazardbunkers. But the few that were dry (although compact) had a good bit of sand in them. I plugged on shot and the ball disappeared.
Greens: Some of the BEST greens around the area. Hands down. Especially for being push up turtle back greens. Solid, FAST, and very challenging. I generally average 24-27 putts a round... I stopped counting after 38 putts and had a couple of holes left, and I wasn't trying to sink 30 foot putts. The greens will be what keeps me coming back. Bring your special fancy back spinning golf balls too, because if you hit one to strong, no amount of yelling "bite" will help.
Great course! Please, if you're a rude, slow golfer, stay at Webb. And if you don't know if you're that guy... next time you play, if you can't see the group in front of you, you're that guy.
