Apache Creek Golf Club
About
Although there are many other desert golf courses in the Phoenix area, Apache Creek Golf Club offers one challenging championship course that requires the use of every club. The golf course features wide open fairways and undulating greens that are sloped back to front, some are also double-tiered. There are also numerous sand and grass bunkers protecting the fairways and greens. Extensive mounding on the course cause uneven lies and water hazards come into play on a few holes. The most difficult of the several demanding holes on this golf course, is the lengthy par-5, 10th hole. Apache Creek Golf Club also boasts two practice greens, a pitching and chipping green with a sand trap, and a large driving range with various targets.

Pretty busy
Easy to find. Easy check in. Carts with ball and club washers and sand bottle s. Water at start. Water buckets for our towels. Tees some beat and often not flat. Fairways pretty good. Roughs wit thin grass true desert course. Greens seemed to always have a slight curve at the cup. Bunkers with pretty sparse sand. Played in 4:30. Can’t take carts to car. Sometimes hard to turn left when leaving late in the day. Getting fairly pricey as well
Do not play this course
At 5:15 ranger came by on home 12 to say he was taking out the pins ahead. Of us and carts needed to be in at 5:30 a full hour before it gets dark !
I called to complain and. Poke to some one who was very unprofessional said that it was posted on home 9 never saw it and he said I didn’t understand the super buys , he the hung up ! I would never play that course if it was the last course in Aro
Ilona !
Price
We paid way too much. Onaidering the fairways had not been overseeded. Greens were great and pace of play was great.
Average at best, needs some TLC
Fairways and greens were not lush at all (maybe due to Jan season) but compared to other courses this was very tough to play seeing as anything off the middle of the fairway was dirt or rock, not great for the clubs. If you are traveling and looking for something this is not the course to play IMO, pay a little more and get something of better quality.
Unacceptable conditions for winter play
I would have been happy with the conditions if I were playing in July and paying $40. The green complexes were in great shape, however the fairways were dead. Very unusual for an Arizona course in the winter. It’s almost like the course doesn’t want to spend the money to water the fairways. Not acceptable for the fees being charged. My playing partner referred to the course as a “goat track”. I would say save your money and play elsewhere. Maybe a good track to play in the summer.
Wouldn’t recommend
Overall not satisfied with my experience at this course. Starter told us we were in the hole then he let his buddy jump us in line to start. The fair ways was painted and pretty much in terrible shape. The greens were in great shape but that’s about it. Not worth the $.
Pace of play - S L O W
In from Tampa and at 61 super disappointed that with 12:45 tee time that we couldn’t finish this course by dusk. 4 holes short and front nine took 2 hours and 20 minutes AFTER starting late by starter at 1:20. Too many times packed into an hour and then supposedly there was frost and a late start in the morning. Fairway grass was dry and dead on several fairways but greens in very good shape. Overall huge disappointment for my 1st round of golf in Phoenix!
Excellent greens, mediocre fairways.
We do love playing this course but have seen the fairways in better shape. The greens were absolutely amazing.
Greens and approach areas were excellent. Good pace of play.
Fun but not worth the money
Fun course and was not busy with snowbirds… we had 3 golfers, two 15 handicaps and my son who plays in from the 150 mark. We finished in just over 3 hours and did not rush anything. Greens were fun and well read, the only downside is the cost. This is not an $80-$90 course. That’s a greedy cash grab mindset leeching the snowbirds in the area. This is a course that should be $50-60 max. I’d be here every day if it was more reasonably priced.
Goat track
Overcharged by about 30 dollars versus what golfnow said would be due at the course. Never again.
Terrible
Reserved for two people, one couldn’t make it so I played alone. I got charged for two and also did not pay the rate that I was scheduled for. Rip off. Never play here
Painted fairways
Greens were very nice and 10 feet around the greens were nice but the fairways were dormant brown grass painted green. Not worth the $70 in my opinion.
