Best overall value in the area
Brickshire always delivers a great experience. Despite the drought-like conditions, and the fact other course are near-dead from lack of water, Brickshire is keeping the course alive, and enjoyable. Granted, the greens are a little slower than usual, but st least they’re thriving, as opposed to dead. Staff is great and the in-course food/beverage lady is a true gem, and enhances the experience. While it’s a 55-minute drive for me, the rates and experience make it worth it, and I’ll definitely be back!
Love this course
Played Brickshire on Saturday morning. We were the first group off so pace of play was not an issue at all. Staff is friendly, course was in amazing shape even with very little rain. Greens were super soft and fast. Bunker were, for the most part, in good shape as well. Love this course and will be back as often as I can.
Great course with real PGA holes!
I loved this course..
9.5/10. Great staff and pure fairways/greens
Bunkers were slightly “gravely” but for $35-$45 for 18 is a steal in today’s market
First time playing and I’ll be back!
I’m fairly new to the Richmond area and still exploring new courses. Got a great Hot Deal at Brickshire and was excited to check it out. Everything was great right from the start with a friendly, well-organized and accommodating staff. The course was in great shape with am interesting and challenging layout. I loved the two almost driveable par fours that temp you to go for it. Greens were in great condition and the sand traps were decent, which I was concerned about from other reviews. Overall, it was a great round and I can’t wait to play it again, now that I’m familiar with the layout!
A tough gem
Look, 244 yard par 3’s? Yes please!
Haven’t played it in a lot of years, so decided to get a change of pace from my home course. Brickshire is right down the street from the glorious nightmare that is Royal New Kent. They share a couple similarities in blind shots, undulating fairways that you MUST get your ball into the right place or it’s over for that hole.
The conditions were perfect. So much variety in the course, some par 4 holes are long and some are short. You have to think your way around this course. 18 is a fantastic hole, a great finishing green that dares you to try to reach in two. Don’t do it. It’s an easy birdie hole if you take the right approach.
Cheers, Logan, thanks for letting me wait out that storm while on 9th tee.
Course is in great shape from tee boxes to the greens!
Very Challenging
Very nice course with knowledgeable staff who were helpful in providing some good insight on how to play some of the holes.
Fairways, tee boxes and greens are in good shape and it looks like improvements are being made to the cart paths. Some of the bunkers need work and markers on the sprinkler heads need to be repaired or replaced.
Good variety of Tee Boxes and I would recommend to anyone playing this course for the first time to drop down one level as this course plays long and good placement off the tee is required.
There are a few holes that replicate famous layouts which is enjoyable and also a couple of short par fours that look easy enough but still have some sharp teeth.
The pace of play was good and having a club and ball cleaner on the cart is appreciated.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone and as I said be mindful of the tee box you chose and didn’t be bashful about asking the staff in the clubhouse for some course information.
Enjoy and keep it in the fairways
Where'd my ball go?
Open fairways, plenty if length. If you love hitting the long ball, you will enjoy this course. Plenty of natural Visage. Staff is super friendly and helpful. There are one or two fairways with blind landing zones. One has definite downhill right slope to the woods. Stay left or have fun finding your ball in the second/third cut. Path is under repair in multiple places.
Enjoy and hit them well!!! Enjoy the 18th ;^ )
Brickshire-The what club do I use challenge!
My first time playing brickshire was a fantastic experience. This course will make you wonder what club to use on almost every hole. Uphill, downhill, around the corner to the left and right, sand traps to distract and scare you into hitting the ball into worse trouble on the sloping fairways, yeah it's a tactical golf experience, haha. If you think you'll hit the green, go 2 clubs up and hit it harder! Played from the black tees and it was cart path only due to 3" of rain the day before, so we walked a lot of it. This course was really cool! It's like a public Federal Club and is definitely one of my top favorite golf courses in the RVA area. I will definitely go back and bring more friends to laugh and share memories of hitting balls into the tall grass and misjudging distances.
Always Enjoy the Layout
This course offers a nice blend of challenging and scoreable holes. There are some large fairways (presumable, easy to hit) and good sight lines. Then there are other holes with carries, blind shots, and lots of slope in the fairways...you really need to know where to land the ball. The greens are fast. This course is a tad spread out so not easy to walk. The fairways were starting to green up, so not in perfect condition but certainly playable. Always a nice choice when in Williamsburg...it's about 35 minutes West of Williamsburg towards Richmond.
Friendly Staff
Day after rain storm the course drained well. I have to give an extra atta boy to a really friendly staff.
Superior conditions
Greens run true and fast. Fairwaysin great shape for winter. Bunkers need work
Super
Do Not Play the Sr Tees. Enjoy a Tough but fair Course!!
