AERATION March 6-7
Played March 6. Because of aeration, played the 9 holes that end with the par 4 twice. That’s what they are calling the front 9. Sorry, it’s never what I want to do when expecting to play 18. Cart path only made for a longer day.
No aeration on the 9 we played. Greens were well covered with grass and a bit slow. Fairways showed some new growth, but still 50/50 at best. A lot more work has been done sence I last played last summer. The driving range and putting green were closed. No place to practice any kind of swing,.
I’m glad to actually see work getting done at Patriots. I have always LOVED the layout, and have played here when the course was a lot closer to 5 stars than 3. I am hopeful this time, with this new ownership, when I return in a few months, Patriots Glen will be back on its way to 4+ stars where , in my mind, it deserves to be. . My fingers are crossed!!
can't wait to see the results of the courses efforts
First time at the course. The layout is fun and far from boring up and back holes. The prior group didn't maintain the course as one can see in the fairway conditions but I'm certain this group has that in a plan of action as spring growth begins soon.
The course itself is a wet course so we had to cart path only, the house is very walkable with only one long path between the holes.
As far as the greens that are a lot of fun to play on and hopefully the players repair ball marks as the greens are soft. I look forward to when the greens are rolled and cut
overall the course staff is clearly working on creating a great walkable track and and all should support their efforts
Just keep getting better
Great course layout. It is recovering well from years of neglect. Hope this trend continues because it is a fun course to play!
Great value for the money
Course had a couple surprises. Perfect for honing your skills without breaking the bank
Great place to golf
New to golf, but I consider this my "home" course after 6 months into the game. Great place to golf, challenging course and friendly staff. Constant improvements are happening here. I'm looking forward to what they're working towards.
A little disappointed
Driving range still closed was disappointing. Fairways are dormant. Greens still full. Bunkers had sand, just haven’t been raked in a while. The layout is the draw for me. And a good hot deal never hurts
Transformed
I’m new to the area and played this course in early spring. It was in horrible shape except for an obvious effort to bring back the greens. They completed that task at took on the fairways. This place is a $50 course all day. One would think that they would be done until you get to the par 5 #15 and find a significant pot bunker as a defender of the green.
Kudos to all involved in this amazing transformation within 10 months.
If you have time, make a point to visit this course and support a team that invested in the course.
Been awhile
Course is making a comeback. I lived in the neighborhood when first 30 homes were built, so I have played course many times in great condition to terrible. I haven’t played in at least a year. Layout awesome. Greens look Great (new carpet)but they are Slow Stimping I would say is 6-7. Bunkers good. Fairways are fine but need over-seeding to become plush. Worth the money in current conditions.
Come a long way
I hadn't played this course for many years because it was, essentially, in unplayable condition at any price. But it's gotten a lot better, I was pleased to discover, when I had no other options on short notice.
Most importantly, they fixed the greens which are now excellent, although playing slow due to late fall maintenance requirements. Next Spring should be perfect. Previously, the greens were awful.
I also see they are putting in Bermuda for fairways, which seems a little unusual for a course this far north, but we'll see how that goes. There will be a long transition period but even the fairways -- Bermuda or not -- were improved.
The course layout here is the star, however, and there's a nice mix and lots of play options for players at different skill levels. If you can control your tee shots, you'll be able to play a nice round with an excellent balance of hazards and scoring holes.
If it continues on this trajectory, I'll add it to my rotation.
New ownership
You can tell the new owners are investing in the course. Course is in much better shape then recent years. Tavern has been redone with quality food and great servers/bartenders.
