Good Course
This is a challenging course but I believe this course is like most Dallas courses were the lack of rain doesn't help but otherwise a good course
Nice Day at the Course
Indian Creek, Creek course is a great track. Challenging and interesting layout. Cart paths only due to lots of recent rain, so I got some exercise.
Greens were cut a little slow, but they can be lightening fast in the summer so it was a nice change of pace.
Great shape for the winter
The course was in great shape for the winter. The tee boxes and fairways were over seeded which helped with play. The greens putted true. All in all a great round.
Do not play here
The course is in terrible condition. The lakes are over their banks and cover the fairway and cart paths on several holes. The Creeks course looked to be in FAR better condition. It looks like they have completely neglected the Lakes course, except for the greens since the rain/snow started. The layout is good, but it just doesn't drain well, and in the summer burns out and has cracks in the fairways then. I have played this course several times, and have had a good experience once. The Creeks is always in FAR better condition, so if you play Indian Creek, do not waste your money on the Lakes course. Pay the extra $20 and play the Creeks.
Course has gone significantly down hill
Seems like Indian Creek is putting all their time/money in to the Creeks course. I know the weather has been bad in Dallas for the start of 2015, but the course was in bad shape. The start things off, they were out of carts and you had to go get your own (no one from the course was helping to get carts). It took us 5:45 to play, there was a group of 5 ahead of us that took forever on every hole and no course marshalls to help move things along.
I won't be back...
Soggy Day
It was a soggy day, which required cart-path only, but the course allowed too many golfers for the conditions making the pace of play brutally slow. Even though the rain made for muddy play, you could tell the course was in poor condition. I doubt I will ever play Indian Creek again.
Indian Creek - Creek and Lakes
I'm writing this review for both the Creek and the Lakes course at Indian Creek since I have played there several times over the past few years. Overall the course is great for the money. You can find good online deals, and the rates are about average for public courses in the area. Their PLP program however makes it one of the best buys in DFW. The Lakes course is not as expensive as the Creek, but it is also not as well kept. However both courses are different, and offer great unique challenges. The Lakes is more difficult from tee to green, with tighter fairways and more hidden hazards. The course maps on the GPS come in very handy here. The Creek course has beautifully maintained fairways and greens year round. The sand traps are also excellently maintained on this course. The Creek is more difficult, and that is largely due to the greens. While the greens on the lake are fairly plain and straight forward, the Creek greens tend to have more elevation, and much more undulation. Overall, the creek is really a shot makers course, requiring precision on approach shots and recovery shots to score well. The Lakes really puts course management at a premium, and longer hitters often need to play the course very differently compared to average length players, which is interesting. The only real negatives at these tracks are the pace of play, and drainage. Both courses get very backed up on weekends, but it's to be expected at public courses. The Lakes in particular seems to hold water for days after the rain. The fairways dry out in normal time for the most part, but if you get off the fairway, heavy mud is expected if it's rained at all in the past week.
Creeks at Indian Creek.
This is an interesting course. The fairways are wide but if you miss you are into areas where there are plenty of trees obstructing clear shots to the green. The greens are a great equalizer. Some 2 tiered, some with pretty severe slopes, most of the time relatively quick. Some of the holes have water, some of them have narrow pathways between water and junk. Well placed shots are rewarded.
Fun place to play
I've played this course numerous times and always enjoy it. The greens are well maintained and very challenging. The course gets so much play , the fairways tend to get a little thin. Overall , fun course to play.
Course needs work.
Very poor condition, have played much better courses for the same price or less. Course should be priced at $20.00 max.
SLOW
Typical Dallas course on a nice weekend day. Carts unavailable to the last minute, tons of people on the course. We started at 2:15 and couldn't finish 18 holes because of pace of play. They needed some marshals out there to move it along.
Aside from the pace of play the course was nice and challenging. Would love to play there on a weekday or some non peak time.
Too beautiful a day for bad golf
The course is in fairly good shape for the winter. Grass is mainly dormant, especially on the greens which make them put like glass. Still, the course is a good challenge without being punishing for good to great shots. I was not sure why the range still has you hit from mats when they have a huge tee area that has the most grass of anyplace on the course.
The main problem (which has existed for some time at this course) is that they over book the course. There were no carts for us until literally when we walked up to the tee. The pace of play was so slow that it took my group over 2 hours to play 7 holes. We saw one marshal at the 2nd hole and then that was it. I like this course but I seldom play it because of the lack of control they have for pace of play. And don't try getting a rain-check, it won't happen.
Sunday golf
Overall the course was in great shape (for Feb) and a pleasure to play. Took awhile to realize how fast the greens were, but they were in great shape and fair. Little slow (expected for Sunday). A five some in front of us and a two some behind. Liked it and will play it again.
Save Your Money
It blows me away that they are able to charge full price when the course is in terrible shape and they have construction in progress on several holes. Spend your money on beer at TopGolf or spend a few extra bucks and play Bridlewood.
Lakes
The weather was great for this time of year. The course was in a condition to be expected for the time of year. Had a great time
Good weather in winter time bad for golf
There were so many people there playing yesterday since the weather was extraordinarily good for Texas winter. The staff did not seem prepared for the crowd. I had to wait past my tee time to get a cart and when I got to the first tee box there were 2 groups waiting already. Te pace of play was very slow and the marshalls did not really force the slow groups to push forward. We should have been done in 4 hrs. Instead we only got to play 17 holes and the last 2 holes were in the dark.
Generally this is a really nice golf course and the pace of play seems to be decent usually.
First Time Player, Not Last Time Player
Played this course for the first time. I liked the course, layout and facilities. I will return.
