The Savannahs Golf Course
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

First tee on a beautiful Florida winter's day on Merritt Island Photo submitted by sttcapt on 02/13/2017
We were a group of four who had booked according to the reviews on GN, We have played all over North America and have never seen a course where locals were allowed to jump on and go ahead where ever they wanted even though there was groups in front of us and we were on time. This was pushing us back on finishing our round. Not one of the four twosome’s who thought it was proper etiquette to scoot ahead even though there was another group in front of us asked if it would be ok if they played through. We would never recommend playing this course unless you enjoy absolutely no rules.
Great course...have played several times and will keep playing here
I love this course. It can be a challenging course. Lots of water. The course has been in great shape all summer because of all the rain. Now, because we haven't had rain in a while, some of the tee boxes are in pretty bad shape for lack of water. The same thing is true of some some spots in several fairways. Some spots are sooo dry in fairways that it's like "ground under repair". That said, still a great course and played 18 in 3 hours and 15 minutes. Will be back soon.
Reptile friends!
I love this course! Staff is always friendly, helpful, and great to deal with. For a FL course they got some challenging holes bringing water in there. Gators and wildlife to see is awesome. Great combination of water and land. Clubhouse is great atmosphere and golf shop stocked with whatever you need.
Challenging course but best looking beverage cart girls
Looking for a challenge you found the right course. And if you play when Payton is there then you’re in for a great time
Beware of the water !
This is a great course. Nice friendly pro shop checkin
Water on the first 11 holes !!! Nice layout, 1 strange, difficult short par 4 with a blind 2nd shot !
Course was busy so we had to wait in most holes. Having said that still finished in just over 4 hours
Nice bar to relax in afterwards
I will be back
Savannahs
Course was really wet due to alot of rain lately so conditions were not that good. Greens were spotty but overall playable. A lot of fairways were closed to carts because of wetness. One par 4 was turned into par 3 because fairway was unplayable. Alot of water on the course as well so a premium on accuracy.
Soaked mess
This course is challenging in good conditions but a nightmare with wet conditions. Soaking wet fairways with mud and on/off rain made our outing unplayable. We left after 9 holes of terrible conditions and lousy pace of play. Never going back
Fun track!
This course is a blast! Very affordable, and an interesting layout. Would definitely play again. Thank you!
Not Too Impressed
The front nine on this course if very difficult with water everywhere. We didn't get to play the backside due to a blitz going off with several players. Not good for first time players! It was their first day with the new GPS on the carts and ours keep shutting down. Fortunately we had a cell phone to call the front desk and get them remotely started again. First time we've ever seen a driving range where you hit your balls in water. My wife and grandson stopped playing because we had to play cart path only and they never told us that we could drive on the fairways. Their AC in the clubhouse was not working nor did they have any food to serve.
Carts
The new GPS screens on the carts are a great addition to this course
Great condition
The course is in good condition they just airated the greens which are in good shape now, the staff is always very friendly.
Good Time!
I've played this place a few times. I always enjoy it. Pace of place is little slow or I always get stuck behind someone slow, but other then that it was great. A few of us got paired up and had good time helping each other out. Conditions were pretty good. Wish was some more trimming by the small rivers and such but great value for the money. The restaurant is as good as always. One of the best golf bar restaurants around if you ask me. Can't wait to go back.
