Return to Former.Glory
When we lived in Alabama, Limestone had become one of my favorite courses. We moved away, and I heard that ownership had allowed course conditions to decline. I’m happy to report that it’s BACK!
Aside from a few sandy spots on the greens’ edges, the course is in great shape. I’ve always enjoyed the layout. Challenging but not back-breaking. I wish they had allowed the rough to grow a little before the Bermuda went dormant because the fairways are plenty generous. My only complaint with the layout is #18. It’s just an uphill, straightaway, long par 4. Not very memorable.
Pace of play after the first 5 holes was atrocious, but I’m thankful for a proactive marshal who forced the slow group to speed up. We played in 4 hours 45 minutes.
Still - I love the course. Great experience!
Awesome
Great golf course! Highly recommended! Will definitely play this course many more times!
- Truly Outstanding.
Moved to Birmingham 2 years ago and have played maybe 20 different public courses within 50 miles of the city. I read online the course was recently bought by a local and saw pictures of the brand new greens and had to go. I played the back tees. This course offers wide fairways that are pure and cut very nicely. The green complexes make you think about your approach shot and are all fun and different.
The greens - I LOVE the greens. They aren't hard but they aren't soft. The perfect amount of forgiveness. Chips from off the greens and putts roll very predictably. Hit your line and it will fall in.
Course has variety and the short par 4's are fun. So are the par 5's! Go play this course.
Nice Course
The course is in great shape and fun to play. Only two things I did like were 4 holes are cart path only and pace of play.. The 4 cart path only holes didn’t bother me much personally but my playing partner is 79 years old and they wore him out because of the hills. We played on Sunday and they were busy so it took 5 1/2 hours to get 18 in. Our foursome usually do 18 in about 3 1/2 hours. My previous round there was during the week and pace was better then,
Greens are new
The greens are great. I play in a dogfight on Sundays. They have them on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
I play from the 4th tee because I don’t drive the ball far. I am competitive from that position. You just have to add 4 points to your score with the position change. It’s all computerized and anyone can play. Lots of fun.
Excellent
Limestone has come a long way in the past year. They have obviously put some money into the greens and fairways. Best I’ve seen the course in years.
Great experience
New greens are great. Friendly staff and nice facilities.
