3 hrs to play front 9-Ridiculously slow
Until Management finds a way to speed up pace of play, I sadly cannot recommend Crystal Springs, which is and has been my home course for over 20yrs.
Gem in the hills
One of my top 5 Public courses to play . In the Bay Area . Located in the hills of Burlingame . This course provides all the challenge you can ask for . . With lots of scenic views throughout the course . The fairways are on the tighter side and the greens ran pretty true. most golfers repaired their ball marks . For smoother putting .like many courses ,the bunkers need some work . Paid $52 with cart .on golf now hot deal . On sat 1:40p m .inky got to play 16 holes tho. Staff was friendly and helpful . Definitely a gem in the Bay Area !
Frankie
Could be a challenging tight golf course. Lots of uneven surface and could be difficult if you miss the target. The greens were just punched and you can hit some bumps along the way. The bunkers are being worked on and I cannot make an assessment.
Good course in Good shape
Course in good condition, it was a 2:30 tee time so greens bit bumpy, fairways and teeboxes in good shape. We got stuck behind a twosome who was brutal and a whole behind on the first tee. That was tough but perhaps worse was the drink cart person did not put alcohol in our drinks. We asked her to show us the empty bottles and she said she put the vodka in but couldn't show us the proof. dWe paid $30 for 3 club sodas. Crazy but course good I love the layout.
Crystal Springs in January 2022
This is a course I have played more than 10 times. It is laid out in a wilderness preserve and overlooks a lovely reservoir. Situated on the eastern slope of the Crystal Springs reservoir its holes rum mostly north/south on levels cut into the slope. It demands good club choice and positioning off the tee. Greens are in generally fine shape and run true, although heavy play can make putting later in the day slightly more difficult due to foot marks accumulating through the day.
You will see deer, turkey, and other wildlife during your round and the scenery is beautiful.
I will return again soon and recommend you try this gem.
Still wet.
Carts are mot and should not be allowed on course. Wet areas still soft. Pace of play slow. Most were walking made for a 5 hour round..
Awful condition
Look, I get the course can’t control rain. What they can control is course maintenance. This was a complete Mud Hole today. Lost balls in the middle of fairways. Greens so bad not worth the explanation. Nothing from the pro shop Staff about what to expect. Of course no price reduction either. There are better choices. By the way, the carts are about 20 years old and safety hazards. The brakes on the ones I tried go all the way to the floor.you kidding me? Go somewhere else.
Mud
The course is beautiful but this time it was extremely muddy. I came very close to slipping and falling in the mud more than a few times and hitting the ball off a very wet and muddy fairway is NO fun.
Also, no one said anything about the mud when I checked in.
I'll come back after it dries out.
Flooded course on the day
The course was flooded and was a massive muddy mess. On top of some rainy days previously, apparently the sprinklers went off indefinitely due to power cut. So my experience was not great and scores reflect that. Otherwise the views are spectacular, plenty wildlife and friendly staff so perhaps on another day I'd have had a better experience.
So muddy
Drainage is bad. Water everywhere and very muddy. Standing water is the cup. Will not recommend to play in the rainy season
Course was extremely wet with almost all holes filled with water. Golf shop staff did not let us know that Hole 17 was closed.
WAY too slow
The first 6 holes took 2 hours. It was the slowest round I have ever played. They are teeing groups off every 7 minutes, which is way too much. They should also have a ranger. On the 17th hole, a man in the group in front of me decided to take a phone call on the green while his buddies were teeing off - quite frustrating and unprofessional when you’re already trying to squeeze your 18 in before dark
HAD TO CANCEL DUE TO COVID 19 CIRCUMSTANCES
THE COURSE LOOKS REALLY NICE. I HAD TO CANCEL MY TEE TIME. BUT HOPEFULLY ILL SEE A REFUND. ID STILL LIKE TO PLAY THERE IN THE FUTURE
Day after Thanksgiving Round
We play here alternately typically on Weds each week.
I was surprised that on “Fridays” there is no senior rate.
There also seems to be an inconsistency with the snack bar at the end of the 9th hole.
They never seem to have regular closing hours. We’ve been told it’s 3, then, until our food runs out, and also, we stay open as long as it’s busy. One of our players really likes the hamburgers but they always seem to be out?
