a fun, beautiful course
The course is in fine shape. The scenery features green hills and large trees. Occasionally, the signs indicating which way you are playing could be a bit clearer. It is a bit annoying that you have to cross a ravine at least 4 times. However, overall, this is a very nice course and it is in excellent shape.
simply golf
fair price, good course and not fancy. simply good fun golf at fair price in great location and layout. other course in area are to full of them selves and way over priced for golf. for me $4 or $5 per shot is just bad. 35 cents a shot is well worth it. greens are good and pace of play for 2 is 4 hrs. just golf
Fun family golf afternoon
Three of us played and got an excellent rate on a Wednesday afternoon. We had a wonderful time. Sometimes it's hard to concentrate on your golf while admiring the beautiful course. Always challenging hitting back and forth over the river. One of our favorite courses to play!
Decent condition, great round
Narrow fairways on some holes and flat greens on all holes. all around a decent course for the GolfNow price. My biggest complaint would be that the tee boxes aren't level and in rough shape in some spots.
Grounds are a mess right now!
There are piles of dead tree limbs that have been laying around for over a month. Some of the greens are so pock marked that it's impossible to put.
I played the west course the day before there were fallen trees there too and muddy areas that we should have during a drought. But at least the greens were well maintained.
Great course and will improve since greens were just repaired
The greens were not in great shape but they will improve. They really need to fix the tee boxes too. Overall though, this is a great course and great value with Golfnow.
Course is very good, but---------
There was small tournament group ahead of us.
They were plaid so slow, so we spent over six hours to finish. You should notice us if there is tournament group before our tee time.
Overall players course
East course is a great layout and challenges any skill level. The price is right and it is in a beautiful setting.
Challenging course especially when windy
This course requires straight drives and when it's windy it can be a bear. The back nine has two super tight fairways that in my opinion are 2 of the toughest par 4's in the Monterey Bay. The greens were a little lumpy but were puttable. Overall, being in a drought, I think they kept up the course fairly well. The range is grass and there is a practice facility too. I hope this property stays open for a long time. Our area is short on decent public courses.
Good Solid Track
Nice Track to test all your skills. Played the west course which has holes that play long and others with tight fairways. Greens, mfairways anf tees boxes are all in good shape for the most part. Only one green was in poor shape.
Greens are flat so it's good confidence builder for higher handicappers
Course excellent, pro shop not so friendly
The west course is challenging. Start with long par 4 into the wind. It was typical Monterey weather, 64 degrees with a coastal breeze. Not many people play the west course so only took 4 hours. Greens are flat with not much break..in fact we had a lot of straight putts from different angles. Golfnow rates are excellent. The pro shop.....not so good. I had an issue with my tee time that was handled by Golfnow. But the pro shop said it was cancelled and wanted to charge me full price. They told ME to call golfnow to fix it. Once again Golfnow did an excellent job and called the course to confirm the reservation. Make sure you have a confirmation number with you. My friend and I still had a great time on the course.
Good warm-up or Ego Boosting course
For $40 with a cart on a Saturday morning, it is hard to complain. I teed off at 6:15am and was done by 8:30am. The tee boxes are often uneven, rough inconsistent, and the greens slow. It is in a pretty setting and good for the ego since the East Course is shorter and more wide open than it's brother the West Course. I play Rancho when I need to get around fast early in the morning or my game is struggling.
Marshall
Wish there was a Marshall present to move the pace of play.
Thanks
Great course but........
I play the West Rancho Canada course frequently, but this time I was behind three foursomes in a "Lady's Executive Tournament." One hour for the first three holes!!!!!! 5 1/2 hours for the round. And not a marshall in sight. Great course but please get a marshall out there.
Nice and affordable course in an expensive area
Course was recommended by local golf school staff. Overall condition was good, no ugly spots or greens/fairways needing attention. Nice location in Carmel Valley. Mountains all around. Some of the fairways are rather narrow and tricky, and there are plenty of trees to work around (or through, if you miss a fairway). Relatively flat course, easily walkable. Overall good experience at a very reasonable price. Only blemish on our experience was that the bunkers we hit into, around greens or off of fairways, were mostly hardpan under an inch or two of semi-soft sand. Hard to hit out of these with any distance control.
Great Public Course Along Carmel River
Nice course with back and forth play over the Carmel River. Big trees, little water and a couple real long holes.
The East Course
The day we played (Tuesday ) was cloudy, with light rain, the course was in really good shape and the greens were receptive. The pace was very good as we played at 7:12 am. A fun and challenging course, thanks.
Very good condition. Great for high handicap golfers
The course is very well maintained. Friendly staff. The White tee is perfect for high hadicap golfers. The rate of play was excellent. Few golfers because of the weather that day. I played by myself and completed 18 holes in about 3.5 hours (leisurely pace). I would go more often if it's closer to my house. At this discounted rate, it's the best deal around!
Greens are rough
Most of the tee boxes are not flat and have to find a spot that is not on a round hump in the middle of the tee box. The greens were unfortunately starting to get a little rough with a lot of bumps. Definitely need to be rolled.
Rancho Canada
We had a great time playing the East course. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The driving range was in good shape and the course overall was in very good condition. The weather was not the warmest for our play but that's the only downer on the day! I would recommend this course!
