Good greens
Greens were in good but fairways were long and spotty conditions in middle.
Decent option if you find yourself downtown
So I didn't feel like rolling up to Carlsbad or Oceanside and decided to play Riverwalk for the first time. Overall decent experience and good value for money. Pace of play was pretty slow but...it was a Sunday and rainy to boot. Would I play again? Were I staying in the area I'd say yes. Certainly not the visual equal of an Aviara or Arrowood but also significantly less expensive....
Fun course but wasn’t in the best condition
Lots of fairways under repair.
Course needs more yardage markers. Some were difficult to find on many holes or we missed them.
I’d play again but wouldn’t pay full price again if fairways were like that.
Bad Shape
This course is in terrible condition. The fairways have bare dirt everywhere. On a positive note, they were working on some of the holes. However, they kept the holes open so you had to play around up to a dozen workers. You'd think they'd do this work afterhours or at least close the holes. We were literally driving right into groups of workers. As always, the pace was unbelievably slow. We only finished 12 holes before throwing in the towel. Don't waste your time or money playing here.
Mowers while you play
I have never been on a course that they are mowing grass in front of you as you are playing. Most golf courses I have been on and there’s more than twenty I have played on, never have mowers during play.
What a Joke increasing their prices!
Before at $65 we always made the joke we're throwing $80 away to play in a cabbage swamp, now they even bumped it up another $20 lol... this is the closest course to my house and I'll never play it again at that rate. Highly do not recommend if you're looking for a good round, spend the extra $10-20 now and play a $100 course that includes cart and actually takes care of their course and cares about their golfers. Tee Boxes always torn up, greens never repaired, sand is concrete dirt and there's more ground under repair in fairways than I've seen anywhere else in San Diego.
Yikes
First time playing here. Course is in pretty terrible shape. Tee boxes shaggy, fairways bare and muddy or long where there is grass. I'm honestly shocked they're open and charging what they're charging. The greens were receptive and rolled well, but needed to be rolled.
If you don't mind moving your ball to nearby grass when you find a bare spot (which you will on every hole) it's playable.
To expensive
Loud snd half of the back nine atre in bad shape. Bunkers are rock hard.
Construction next door makes it hard to stay focused.
Course has deteriorated beyond recognition
I have played this course a number of times in the past; I last played a few years ago. The course condition rendered me speechless! Bare dirt in the middle of fairways and bunkers with roots, were just the beginning. The pace of play was unbearable, and marshals were missing in action. It is way over-priced. If they would invest in a bit of maintenance, they could charge more because the location is great for visitors to the city. I would never play there again under the dire conditions.
Meh
The course is in terrible shape and the pace of play is ridiculously slow. I played on a weekday in the afternoon. There was no starter and no one to give out carts. Also, the staff did not bother to inform us there was a private event on the golf course on the day we booked. There were up to 12 people waiting on every tee. This course is going condo and the staff/management is clearly checked out.
