Great complement to Signature Course at Haig Point
As I nine-holer, I thought this would just be a warm-up course for the Rees Jones Signature Course, but nothing could have been further from the truth. While it certainly isn't as difficult, it has a championship pedigree. Also designed by Jones, the holes are interesting, have plenty of length and it's very challenging, yet not overly difficult. Part of the challenge comes with the water hazards, like a semi-island green and some nice doglegs. The course was also in excellent condition. If nine holes are closed on the other course, this one fills in nicely.
A terrific day on a terrific layout
This is the nine-hole layout that adjoins the Haig Point property and it's really, really great. I've visited Hilton Head often and always thought that it'd be difficult or time consuming to get over to Daufuskie Island, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
The ferry over to the island was only 30 minutes, and on a beautiful morning, it was peaceful boating across Calibogue Sound.
The course was fun and playable and I loved the variety of the holes, especially the par 3s. It may be easy to overlook this nine-hole stretch in favor of the signature course but if you get over there and have time, you won't be disappointed by taking the time to swat it around the Osprey.
