Desert Canyon Golf Club
About
Nestled within Fountain Hills, the course at the Desert Canyon Golf Club offers a championship course with a variety of elevation changes with views canyon and mountain views. It is a desert-style course with some elevated tees and open fairways that play tight with a few doglegs. Water bunkers come into play on a few holes as well as numerous well-positioned sand bunkers. From nearly every hole on the golf course, views of the signature fountain in Fountain Hills, which is the world's tallest fountain at 550 feet, can be seen.

Green was punched but not disclosed on golfnow
Was very disappointed when I walk on the green. Newly punched holes and light sand turned me off. This is not what I signed for in a 100f day.
Please let your player know ahead of time that course is in maintenance mode.
Great course price comparable for area but cart gps annoying
It was a fun course. Well laid out in good shape. Challenging but not horribly difficult. The greens were slow because of maintenance, and I imagine if they were fast it would’ve been much more challenging. Price was good for the area but like all of the east valley overpriced for august
My only complaint was the golf cart which I nicknamed R2-D2. In my opinion golf carts should be seen and not heard, and having it give me incessant beeps and comments about everything “slow down, stay on cart path, don’t go downhill, go on the left side of green, tuck in your shirt, comb your hair,” got really old after a while. I really dislike it when golf cart shuts down because you go two feet off the cart path.
Other than the micromanaging golf cart, it was a good experience. When I returned about 4 PM the pro shop was closed which was a surprise.
Hooked
My buddies and I, we are hardcore Arizona golfers. We go out in the 106 degree weather. UV protection on. Big hats. Lots of water. This place is a great value, and it’s a really scenic course. All four of us love Desert Canyon. Great staff, great restaurant, great golf. Gets you out of the city, and puts you out in the peaks and valleys of Fountain Hills.
Note: keeping a course “green” in an Arizona summer is a challenge, and we understand that challenge. Fun place to play and they do a good job tackling the extreme conditions.
Girls trip
I took 3 friends to this course. We all loved it. It is challenging but so fun
Beautiful course with wonderful views
This is a very nice course. Not overly challenging but certainly enough to keep your interest up. Not overly tight but don’t push or pull your shots too much.
Played the front in an hour, fourth five minutes. The back got a bit slower….still got done in four hours ten minutes.
Big greens, so it was nice to have GPS that read yardage to the pin.
Good value for the money.
Poorly Ran Staff
I visited this course this week. We played on Tuesday then booked again for Friday. Today we were playing with a couple of friends of foreign decent. During our play, we ran into some drunk, rude local players.
They were making comments toward our friends. They then turned their attention toward us as we defended them. During our play, they then gathered with others from their league. They stacked up 6 carts on the same tee box totaling 12 people.
They yelled out inappropriate comments and threatened us. We called up to the clubhouse and spoke about it with them. Not only did the women in the clubhouse not care, but they told us it was fine they had 12 people on one tee box.
When we caught up to the course ranger, he laughed and talked it up with the guys. We were told it was locals who were members and if we didn't like it we could leave. This course allowed locals to get drunk, play with 12 people at once and be inappropriate toward us.
We found that this course is not a place you should visit if you want to be treated with respect as most golfers are supposed to be. This course doesn't adhere to proper golf course educate. There should only be 4 to a tee box, but because they are local members, they were allowed to do what they wanted.
We paid $275 to play only to be run off or face the treatment from this course. When we git back to the clubhouse, we again told staff and they said maybe we should find a different course should we revisit Arizona.
I will be spreading the word about this course to others publically to make sure they learn you cannot treat people this way just because you're a member.
They, as a course, had a responsibility to protect all players when brought to their attention and chose not to.
Best condition in Fountain Hills
The golf course is great shape especially the greens - best I have played in November 2021!
