About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

Del
This course is the worst I have played this year. Save your money. The owner is not taking care of this course whatsoever. The greens were the worst I have seen in a long time.
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE!!!
The fairways and greens were horrible. The greens were patchy at best , dry and just outright horrible condition. This course use to be a great one to play but I will never play it again. There was no marshal on the course and the pace of play was so bad, that we quit after 11 hours .
Used to be great
I've played here a handful of times over the last 2 years and today was the absolute worst I have ever seen it. It was in such bad shape. The tee boxes were overgrown, the fairways had massive dirt spots, and the greens were a mixture of dirt, dead grass and pitch marks.
In the past the course was always in pristine condition but it was just abysmal. The bunkers were laughably bad. They were either mud, clay, or just bare concrete and just littered with rocks and pebbles. One member of our group really messed up his wedge hitting out of the bunker because a acorn sized rock dinged up his club.
It's a shame to see such a beautiful course get neglected like this. It used to be on my short list but now it's something I'll avoid at all cost, especially what they're trying to charge.
I will, however say the staff was very nice and the pro shop, clubhouse, bar & restaurant are great but that doesn't make up for the course conditions.
Course isn't what you see in the photos on their website.
My husband and I were very disappointed with the condition of the course. The photos on their website made it seem like a beautiful course. The golf course was not in any condition close to the photos! It could be a beautiful course but it isn't being maintained.
I had played this course at the end of Jan. The course conditions have gone from very good to bad. Many greens have lots of dead spots on them and the fairways are not as nice as they were in Jan. I enjoy playing this course but will not until course conditions improve.
Needs work
Course is can be very challenging with a lot of blind tee and layup shots. The tee boxes were all in great condition but the greens definitely need some work. Some ran super fast and others very slow but the only constant was dry grass and divots on almost every green. Overall it was a good day, finished the course 4 hours on the dot which was great. The cart girl literally had her last stop right when we started at 2pm which is uncommon and kind of a pain if we needed anything. Hit the fairways or youre going to be in trouble on almost every hole.
Disappointed
This course had always been our favorite on the east side of the valley. Love the layout. Very disappointed in the condition though. Tight, dry fairways with bare spots with no grass. The outside attendant seemed irritated we were there. The pro shop person and cart girl were great. Definitely not worth $73 in their current condition. They accept the southwest pass but only give a less than $2 discount. Hope they get it together again soon.
Club West
The staff was great, very friendly and helpful. I played this course back in the 90's and it was one of my favorites, so kind of sad to see the condition it is in now. But it is still a fun course to play, can make it easy or challenging based on tee played.
This course is usually in good shape. Today the greens were very rough and bumpy. At the turn, the replacement sand containers were all empty. Some of the tee blocks are in need of repair or uneven. Played this course a couple months earlier and was in very good shape. This course might be in serious trouble later if the crew doesn't stay on top of maintenance.
Neighborhood golf
As snowbirds, my wife and I try to play Cub West four of five times a month. The course is only a short five minute drive from our home so we enjoy the short commute. Course conditions have been an issue (water problems) but over the past two years we have seen the course conditions improve. There were still some browned out and dirt areas in the fairways but not unplayable. Some of the greens were a bit bumpy while others rolled very nicely. The bunkers were in good shape with pretty consistent sand (no "cement" bunkers). The layout of the course is fun, most landing areas were average/wide in width so precise tee shots do not have to be dead on. For the mid to low handicap players, the length from the White and Blue tees are not crazy long and very reasonable so you will be able to post some low scores. My wife likes the length from the Gold tees, she can actually reach many of the greens in regulation and make a few pars. The views are excellent of the local mountains and Foothills community, especially from some of the elevated tee boxes! Overall, we enjoy playing the course, staff is extremely friendly, we like the reasonable greens fee (we have Gold Cards), enjoy the pace-of-play with early tee times, the friendly layout, and the views. We hope that the course conditions continue to improve.
Club West Reviw
Course in good but not great condition. Our two-some paired with a third who was a nice gentleman. Greens are needing attention and are difficult to putt. Course layout interesting as a desert course. Course personnel friendly and professional. I will definitely play this course again - next year.
nice course in a nice community
Club West was a nice course. The fairways were wide and greens were in good shape. I would play again when I am in the area.
Getting better!
I have played here several times and for the last 3 years its been a work in progress. It seemed before they had really let this place slip and weren't keeping up the grounds. The fairways and greens have improved and it's coming back. I enjoy the course and the views. I like that there is snack girl riding around. I know many courses don't have them on week days. Hopefully they keep it up. Prices are about average. Hot deal is always the way to go around here in the winter. I won't ever pay full price for any course. Just can't afford it in the winter.
Average at best
Hard-packed fairways with little challenge. Greens in poor shape. Little shade.
Surprising
I had heard some good things about the course, so I decided to try it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The greens were very dry, patchy, and bumpy........very hard to read. The layout was uninspiring until the last four holes. They are worth coming back for. I would play the course regularly if the greens were better. As it is, I would only play it if the price is right.
Enjoyable round
Teed off at 1:30. The course was not overly crowded. Played as a twosome so we did some waiting but not bad at all. Beautiful day with some beautiful views. Liked the layout. Some almost 90° degree doglegs and two nice elevated tee shots. A lot of sand on the greens. Not sure when they were pinched but it couldn't have been more than a couple of weeks. If definitely play this again.
Improving course
Course is improving as greens were rolling much better during my round. Still some rough patches on some greens but as a whole the course is getting much better.
