Poor condition
The greens are in awful condition,; baked mud with the merest hint of grass and weed on the surface. This made them very quick, and with the slopes, downhill putts had to be hit very gently with the result that the ball would change direction with almost every roll. Apparently they will be replaced in a couple of weeks. However, the rest of the course is also in patchy condition. so still wont be great.
To make matters worse, members don't repair pitch marks or rake bunkers and you cannot repair divots because no sand on the cart.
Much better courses available in the area for a lower price, so avoid this one.
Be aware before booking!
They are about to close the course for several months for renovations.
The greens are as fast as if you’re putting on glass and are burned to a crisp (apparently part of the Reno plan)
With that, they are discounting rates, even from what is advertised here because of the greens/conditions. The fairways are in really good shape, so if you are just wanting to get out and slap the ball around and don’t mind fighting the greens, it’s great. Wish I would have known before recommending to friends for their only round while in town.

The course was in good shape except for the fact that the practice and the greens on the course were not nearly the same in regard to speed. I can give the course a pass considering they are getting ready to a major overhaul of the course. I look forward to see how the course will look in the future.
Atrocious Greens
The greens were in incredibly horrible condition. I've played here many times before and the greens were what brought me back before. The fairways were in phenomenal shape. Tee boxes were about as bad as the greens. You couldn't find a single flat spot on the tee box. I don't know what the issue was with the greens, but I wouldn't recommend playing here until whatever it is is fixed.
Beautiful Day
My major criticism is it iscart path only on hole 18, this is a long, ver my wide hole, Thus the slow down there can back the course up 4-5 holes. Greens were fuzzy.
Course is slowly getting better
Love the layout but unfortunately the greens are very slow and bumpy at this time.
Don’t understand some of complaints course was pure staff was great!
Don’t have any complaints staff treated us very well. Course was pure. I got a hot deal decided to check it out. I thought maybe it was iffy because of how good deal was and I was surely wrong. Well manicured tee to green. Greens alittle spongy but you can attack pins all day. I’ll be adding foothills in the rotation great layout as well and views. Kinda of gives me a lookout mountain vibe if you’ve ever played that course. Definitely worth a play
Spongy Greens
Some of the greens were very spongy and slow, Others were harder and faster. Some were a mixture of both. I do like what Troon has done with course and tees and fairways were excellent,
Beautiful course...
This was my first time playing The Foothills Golf Club. The staff was friendly and was at awe about how well manicured the course was, I'm not a good player but this course is manageable (if you hit it correctly) and I feel was forgiving for my slight slice (or fade).
I was a single player and was paired with a nice gentleman who was a scratch player and his girlfriend. You need to look out for this guy if and when he turns pro. I forgot his name I think it was TJ or JT?
Anyway, play this course, you will not be disappointed!
Where's the water?
Course is in great shape.
Every water cooler on course was empty..
No excuse for that in Phoenix when temperatures were in the 90"s.
Joke management
Been playing here 15 years...course has ebbed and flowed but nice shape now except for greens. Tolerable except the staff doesn't understand customer service. I trade my money for a good time playing golf with some expectations that other courses understand. Today my issue is ZERO water in the hydration cans....no cart girl...and shack at the turn closed up well before it should be. Just unpleasant to have a decent course but no regard for the guest. Disappointing owners think that's ok.
Pace of Play
Our tee time was 10 minutes late because the course was "backed up." When I tee'd off, the starter, Jay, guaranteed that we would be back at the turn to see him at 2 hours on the dot. He assured me the pace of play wouldn't be a problem and that someone was out there enforcing pace. I saw him at the turn after 2.5 hours and he had nothing to say to me. He went and walked as far as away as possible from the turn to avoid speaking with us. After another 2.5 hours, I was finally able to finish a round at this course. There's no reason I should get stuck behind extremely drunk individuals yelling on a golf course taking 2-3 balls off the tee and the marshall (if there even was one out there) not doing anything about it. Absolutely terrible experience.
Great course, slow 18th
Everything about this course is great, except for the CPO 18th hole. There was 3 groups ahead of us and it took us a long time to finish the round
Hey, I think I played with you! I agree with your comment.
