Awesome
Such a great layout , some amazing holes .
Really enjoyed the day
Teed off over an hour late and never finished.
My friend and I take a golf trip to Orlando Florida every year and after hearing great things from multiple people about Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon Course we decided we would make the one hour drive to play the course. With sun setting just after 7PM we booked a 2:20PM tee time to ensure we could finish the round. Upon arriving to the tee box we saw a line of about four foursomes yet to tee off. After speaking with the ranger we were told that there was a large group of people in front of us for an event that had to tee off before us. By the time we got to tee off it was around 3:30pm and unfortunately we were only able to finish 16 holes. I honestly do not know how a golf course can miss manage tee times this poorly, especially considering there were two groups behind us that had tee times as well. This was very disappointing to say the least and it was a complete waste of time and money. No refunds, rebooks, or any other accommodations were offered. It is a shame because the golf course had a unique and fun layout as well as being in good shape but considering how this all unfolded I would not be back and I suggest people stay away.
Stagnant pace of play
The course is in good condition and challenging. That said, when we got with the starter he said that we may have a problem. They had a group of 52 that had started in the morning with the last foursome teeing off at 9:30. Normally it wouldn’t be an issue since we were teeing off at 11:08. The starter had heard that the group had played another course the day before and played a 6 hour round. We were playing at a 4 hour pace and caught up with the last group at hole 10. The ranger came out several times to get them to pick up the pace and finally came to us and said that he was giving up. We were waiting 10-15 minutes between shots. I quit at hole 14. It was just unbearable and quite frankly inexcusable to let them play at that pace.
Pace of play
First time I walked off a course due to slow play. Waited 3-10 minutes on each hole due to slow play.
Over-played
We’ve loved El Campeon in previous years, and it is highly recommended always by many, me included. However, because of this, it is now overused, and sadly, by many standards of golfers. The pace of play is now appalling, and unfortunately no sign of course marshalling. We packed up after 14 holes @ 3h 45m.
Fortunately the starter team were great and suggested we could play 9 on Las Colinas, which we’d never played before. The difference was amazing. Great layout, great condition (not overplayed) and a joy to play. Will definitely return and play Las Colinas for 18 holes.
Outstanding service
This is an upscale course that is in excellent condition. That being said, at some up scale courses the service is given with an expectation or a hand out for a tip. Not here! My experience was refreshing as the starter saw me getting out of my truck, brought me a cart. Then when I went inside the pro shop and the gentleman there had my starting ticket already printed with my name written on the top of it. I had pre paid online. These gentlemen deserve recognition! That is what will keep customers coming back. Not to mention the course is beautiful. Great experience!
Nice condition
Course is in good shape. Greens area a bit grainy and many cart paths are under repair but his is a really fun track.
The club shop guy was a complete tool...about as bad customer service as I've ever seen at a golf course.
A must play
Enjoy playing here. Always in very good condition. Every hole is unique. All holes ha e greenside bunkers. Very good greens for putting. Two par 3's over water. This is not an easy course fir double digit handicapper but still worth playing. Many local tournaments played there. Including the Epson & MacKenzie tours.
Awesome Day Of Golf! 💪🏾🕳🍷
Listen the outing was phenomenal. Riding into the first tee I saw Tiger and his son on the 18th green. Tiger was his caddie. Charlie shot a -4 in this Jr. event presented by Notah. I heard he was there also. I played the big course El Camperon. I birdied Hole #1. 30 ft drain dead center. On the green in 3. Knew it was gonna be a great day. Greens where magnificent, the right speed. Barely drew the putter back and thru. Tee box, fairways; love this course. Staff over friendly, so are the cart staff. Shot +9 81 from the whites. Listen you must play this course. It’s worth every penny believe me. Back in the day I heard it was one of Michael Jordan’s favorite courses. Way to go Mission Inn and Staff.
Worth a try
I expected more because of it’s design and history but all & all I enjoyed myself. Played along with a father/son duo and had a great time. The elevation changes throughout are spectacular. Most holes offered great views. Wish the clubhouse had a better selection of items to buy.
Rainy day
T-off on time. Joined a couple of great guys. 2 stops for some hard rain. Course held up pretty well through the 1st one. Sloppy after the 2nd. Just wanted to get done @ that point (16th 🕳). Course was in pretty good shape. Recently had green's maintenance. A lot of sand. 1st 🌧 actually helped. Must have pushed the sand down to grass level. Soggy green's after 2nd rain. All 👍. Paid decent price to play $55. I was happy 😊
Dissatisfied
I was scheduled for a 7am tee time. I woke up with flu like symptoms and was concerned I had Covid. I wasn’t able to cancel in time and I was charged for the round. I tried to call Golfnow to explain the situation, good luck, they don’t have a customer service number. I was charged 140 bucks and didn’t get to play. Also to be noted, I’ve used Golf now well over 12 years.
Beautiful experience
A friend of my daughter told me about this course and I loved it. I even had a close encounter with some baby gators while looking for my ball on one of the many island greens
Nice course, unfortunate miscommunication
We asked at the pro shop while paying if the course had been punched or sanded recently and were told no that the greens were excellent. As we are playing there was a maintenance member spreading lumpy sand on all the greens in front of us. So each put was like hitting through bunker sand that was hit out on shots around the green. Unfortunate and the miscommunication from the staff was not appreciated. The course itself was unbelievably nice and we will return.
El Campeon is reaalll!
First off on a beautiful labor day morning. What a pleasant experience! Much recommended, course is a little wet but in top shape.
