Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Play 3 nines
Course has 3 nines, and they assign which 2 to play. Layout is sometimes confusing navigate, a large housing track. Fairways were thin in places, greens were ok.
Fantastic course!
This is the 2nd time we've played this course, and both times it has been extremely enjoyable. The course is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. It is challenging and yet not too much for a beginning or intermediate golfer if you pay attention to the slope rating when choosing which tee box to use. Loved it! We'll definitely come back when we're in the area.
Hard dirt sand in bunkers
Green side bunkers are rock hard in places. It cost me dearly when I hit caliche and blew the ball over the green. I'm normally pretty good out of bunkers. Greens were perfect.great layout!
Nice course and a great value
I golfed the Sunrise and Canyon courses and I preferred the Canyon course for scenery and difficulty. This course is a great place to play for the price and the pace of play was very good. I would golf here the next time I am in the area again.
Spanish Trails CC
Very nice course close to Las Vegas strip. Enjoyed an afternoon round on 2 of their 3 nine hole courses, Sunset and Canyons. Great pace of play and good views of mountains!
Great course
Absolutely excellent. My only minor negative comment is the inconsistency of sand in the bunkers.
Great practice facilities as well..
Would highly recommend
Spanish Trail Golf
Excellent value. Enjoyed the course very much. Played as a single in a little over 2.5 hours. I would definitely play this course again. Great rate from Golf Now .
Sweeeeeeeet
The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The course was in great shape and pace of play was good. Our foursome.2 men and 2 women took 4hrs. 15 Min. Greens were very fast. Fairways and tees were great. One of the nicest courses we have played. Also the views were incredible.
Great views
Wide open well maintained course in luxury gated community. Very friendly, greens in excellent shape, what you read is what you get. Great way to spend 4 hours.
Overpriced
I would compare this to a Northern California muni course. Half of the course is burnt out (and it's the middle of Feb). Inexplicably, the greens were saturated. The tee boxes covered in seed-sand, to where you had to be creative to find a spot.
It's a really easy, wide open course though, so shots don't have to be creative. I topped a 170 yard shot which rolled alll the way to the stick on the green. Not how I normally would have played it, but this course is forgiving like that.
Pace of play too slow. It took forever to finish with groups in front, and it really manifested by last hole.
Get lost going home to hole while you traverse on sidewalks in suburb streets. More signs would have helped this.
Overall, overpriced for this muni-style course.
Great value, nice track, excellent snack bar/restaurant
Was on my own while on business in Vegas. I joined 3 new friends from Canada. We had a wonderful day, course in excellent shape. It is as tough as you want based on which tees you choose. Excellent breakfast burrito in snack bar and we also had dinner in the restaurant. I would play here again.
Spanish trails canyon/lakes
Course was in good winter condition I was surprised they charged an additional $5.00 for GPS fee over what I payed to golf now
Great Vegas GC
Found this gem on Golf Now. Short Uber ride from the strip. For the price, I don't know that you can get much better.
The course was in excellent condition. Greens were fast, but its winter in the desert. Hard to expect less.
Fairways were plush. Rough was decent. Lots of water hazards on this course.
1 and only drawback to this course: It sets in the middle of an upscale retirement community. That means plenty of Elderly Resident Golfers. SLLLLLOOOOWWWWW. Real slow. Won't let you play through. It was difficult to stay in swing rythym, since I had to wait 6-8 minutes per swing, due The the Blue Hairs.
Overall, excellent experience. Starter was somewhat perturbed that a few in my group were not dressed in approraie Country Club Attire. Made the gentleman purchase the appropriate attire from the Pro Shop. It's Las Vegas, not everyone brings golf attire, for a last minute outing. But that is forgivable.
The golf course and price all made up for the drawbacks. I recommend this course. It's challenging and fun all at the same time. The signature hole does not disappoint.
Pace is too quick / Stuck with Random
It was overall a great experience being that this was my first time here. I traveled here from California to play with some buddies. Unfortunately, the fourth friend couldn't make it, but us three were still excited to play against each other. Unfortunately the course paired us up with a single player - making us an unwanted foursome. The player we were paired with was much older, and paced way too quickly for our style of play. It would have been nice to match up with someone more closely to our age range, and pace of play. In addition, the players behind and in front of us were not on the same pace, making us at times wait for the players ahead to tee off, or having the players behind rush us. We all know, when being rushed - strokes increase (at least in my experience). I would space out the players a little more than 10 minutes a piece and not add randoms to group reservations.
Country club with a nice vibe
This is definitely a country club, but we were treated like a valued guest. NOT walkable - lots of space in-between holes
Course Maintenance Required
Played this course in 2015 and it was beautiful then. Yesterday started when we checked in and right away they asked for $5.00 each per player. This was a prepaid teetime via Golfnow's hot deal. There was no starter and marshall around therefore pace of play was slow. The fairways were awful and the greens were bad as well. This private course needs serious all around maintenance.
Player Friendly Course
Good course in the midst of January. Got a hot deal price making it terrific compared to what else was available. The course does charge a mandatory $5 per person for the range balls, water on cart, and use of a towel. Overall, lots of water (yes in the desert) pretty man made waterfalls, scenic.
I think there are better choices in Vegas
There was less than 1/2 inch of rain over a 24 hour period and two of the three nine holes were closed leaving everyone to play canyons course only. No one bothered to tell anyone at time of purchase that they only had nine holes open nor did they discount the round. On top of that, they allowed a six-some (yes 6) of members to go out and play the only nine holes available. Not a very challenging course either. I feel there are much better courses in Vegas to play.
