Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Excellent course difficult greens
Very wide fairways, real second shot course, greens slopped with run off area. Very demanding. Very good shape especially for November. Beautiful surroundings. Doesn’t feel like a desert course
Overpriced !!!
The staff was very nice but the course is way overpriced for a private track
This is a great course if you play the correct tees!
Started out playing a blend of the senior and write tees. together they were 6100, but even that played long. Next time will stick to the senior tees at appox. 5900. Very challenging shots into most greens with water coming into play in front and on sides. For $45 and mandatory practice facility fee of $5, it was well worth it. The greens were the nicest I've putted all year, very quick and true. Can't wait to get back!
Course plays long... make sure you use the appropriate tee boxes.. Blue is Champion, white is strong, gold is mid length etc.
I experienced a deceiving wind here, it felt like no wind but when the ball was in the air it seemed to come up 10 to 20 yards short of usual distance.
Great course, will definately play it again.
Not too shabby
It wasn't too bad, the fairways I'd give an 8/10, the greens were cut so short making them lightning fast, divots all over the place, brown at places...I'd give the greens 5/10. Pace was great, slower players let me pass through no problem. I've played here before on all 3 courses and will return to play again if I can find another good deal. TIP: the practice green at the club house is EXACTLY as fast as the actual greens are.
Excellent course right in Vegas
I played with my wife and daughter and we all had a great time. It was nice to have access to a true country club course that was as nice overall, carts, fairways, greens, and cart paths. Avery nice course that was moderately priced. I will come back again next time in Vegas
Great facilities and course
We played the Canyon and Lakes nines. Services on arrival were very good. You have to pay the $5 fee for water and you can hit as many range balls as you like so come early if you want. They let us tee off earlier than our booking time which made for a smooth round with no hold ups. The course is a superb layout. Some great water holes on the Lakes nine but we actually liked the Canyon nine more. The greens were recovering from maintenance but they rolled fairly true and were quite fast which we liked. We explored the clubhouse after the game and had a drink. Although a members club we were well accommodated.
Lakes ok
We played the canyon and lakes .
The canyon was not in very good shape but the lakes was a tougher nine with challenging holes.
Only issue was we were a two some and had to wait on a 5 some in front of us!!!!
Vacation 2017
Great course for the price since used Golf Now to get tee time. Private club so some of the staff and members not too welcome outsiders playing. Course not too hard but challenging enough to make the round very fun.
Water Features were unique and quite surprised by the amount of elevation change
Great golf course experience. Staff was terrific. Greens rolled well and the overseed that was recently put down was starting to come up even with the hot weather. Look forward to returning and having the option to play the Canyon nine.
Hidden charge
This is the only course that has a hidden charge of $5 for water, gps and range. When I opted to not hit balls on the range because it was off mats and iron practise only, I was told I still have to pay. I complained that they should just raise the fee and not hide this fee and give us an unpleasant surprise. Their standard, condescending answer was "it's our policy". Well, this policy sucks and there are at least 2 similar reviews prior to mine on this. Such a pompous attitude and they obviously don't care about golfnow players.
BTW, I just played approximately 40 courses in Phoenix , Mesquite and Las Vegas as a VIP golfnow member and no other course does this.
I will never go back.
Has been on my hit list of courses to try and glad I did, excited to go back and redeem myself on more than a couple holes, Lakes was challenging layout and greens had good playable speed. Give it a try.
Hidden Gem in Las Vegas
This was a great round - happy to have had the opportunity to play Spanish Trail. Great condition, strong layout and very picturesque. Will definitely play here on my next Vegas trip.
Great layout.. great staff
Wonderful course..few bumps on the greens but overall excellent experience
5 hours and 12 min round! No thank you!
The club looked nice, the employees were friendly, the starter was awesome!
5 hours and 12 minutes to play this course! No thank you!!! I won't play again knowing this type of play is allowed and no marshall did anything about it.
Spanish Trails
Rough was a little long but I understand the course had just opened the day before.
Overall we had a great time
Would love to play it again
Great course could be better.
The pro shop staff was very businesslike not overly welcoming. Not crowded at 11 AM. Played the round in just over three hours. There is an extra $5 charge for use of practice range and a couple bottles of water. The course layout is great plenty of huge bunkers and water. The course is a little on the dry side with even dry areas in the fairway and in some of the rough areas. A little more water and the course will be back to superb as it was last year.
it would be nice to know why you think its over priced. Why complain and not back it up with justification. Was it in bad shape? I have a tee time there for mid novmeber, and looking for intel.
