This course needs a Ranger.
Played the day after Thanksgiving and the course was in good condition considering the time of year. Most of the leaves had even been removed from the playing grounds. For starters they were out of range balls by noon on a day where the fog hadn't lifted til almost 10am so its not like there were a ton of people out on the range. Then there were a lot of holiday 4somes out and I even saw a 3 cart 6some along with one group that had a father out with his 2 daughters and son. One of the daughters was 5 or 6 years old and playing from tee to green. As you can imagine this created quite the log jam and no one was ever allowed to pass. I just don't understand that kind of thing. Also the course has not dropped their green fee to winter rates yet. On a day packed with $50 a round golfers one might think to have someone out there riding around making sure proper etiquette is being practiced.
Call ahead for clear instructions!
Thought it was a great value and reserved a time online. Drove over an hour and course looked deserted. No one was around. Carts were lined up outside so we just got in and started to play. Were not going to abandon the trip because clubhouse attendant was at lunch, or so we thought since it was a long drive. After 2 holes a guy comes up and says we need to go to another course 5 miles away. But this same guy was in a cart playing golf by himself! No way we would have figured that out with no one answering phone at clubhouse. Figured out to go to different course and clubhouse attendant said we were lucky they didnt call police on us at 1st course. Customer service was of the lecture type telling us "you should have known!" Lol, i live on a resort golf course in Kentucky and people pay after all the time if attendants are not around or if you play from your house. You can go, but i will have to make sure i have a white guy in my group to go back again!
One of the Best Courses in Northern Alabama
Had a great day to play and the course was in great condition except for the traps. Happily I only ended up in 3 or 4 traps but they mostly have little of no sand. Other than that the course is a fair test of golf from the white tees that I always play. Were it not for the traps I would have given the course conditions 5 stars and when I played this course earlier this year the traps were excellent so this review is ONLY for this recent visit. I also didn't interact with staff on this visit so I'm giving it a good rating based on this and previous visits. I also paid nothing for the round because I used a Golf Pass+ free round couponI had earned but if Golf Now stopped working with this course like they have with another course in my area that is one of my favorites I would pay their regular rates to play this course. BTW, the other course I just referenced is going to offer its own Golf Now like discounts in the future and I will definitely play that courses rates to play too.
The course is on its way to becoming excellent for golf.
I definately will play this course many more times with friends and along if time permit.
Awesome course. Views everywhere
This course was amazing. It has a nice layout. One of the best courses I’ve played. The lake is all around this course. Nearly every hole has a great view of the lake. Never thought I’d be playing golf and halfway wishing I was fishing. I will definitely be going back.
Great course as usual
Consistently one of the best places to play in North Alabama. Right amount of fun, fair, and challenge.
Needs better course marshaling
I have always enjoyed playing this course. However the past couple of times I have been, there has been no one driving around marshaling the course. For example, when I made the turn to the back nine today, there ended up being 5 groups stacked up...One on the green, one in the fairway, and three waiting to tee off. With a little bit of management, several of those groups (2 somes) could have been paired. No offense but there shouldn’t be that much stack up
Goose Pond Lake Course
The course was excellent and presented some challenges I have not seen on some other courses in my area.
The course, staff and facilities were all excellent.
