Nice Course
Fun round but extremely hot day. Especially walking the course. Greens are average and fairways are in decent shape.
Great place
Nice course kept up well. We arrived early and they let's us go out early!!!!
Fun
We had a good time playing the course. It offered anything from an easy hole to challenging.
A little mowing goes a long way
The grass just off the fairways is awful! 3 feet high and rising. If you don't hit the fairway dead center forget it. Just off it (which most amateurs tend to be) and you can forget it. DON'T LOOK FOR YOUR BALL JUST DROP!! We hit several shots just that one hopped to the edge of the fair way (even to the front) only to ride up and find nothing, To drive up an hour and a half for that sucks. Fellas, we will work on striping the fairways dead center on every shot, if you pull out the mower a couple times a month.
If courses want to make the game more enjoyable, speed up pace of play, get more people out on the course thus making more money, THEN DO SOME GROOMING!! The course will still play challenging without the jungle to the left, right and center of the fairways.
If you play once a week you would know that in March most courses had flooding problems. Therefore, you can't cut the grass. Your critique has an unfair ring to it and I wonder what the real problem is.
Bring your tactical golf game
If you Have not been watching the weather here in California they have been having a little bit of a rainy season. Considering all the rain they had, here in the Sacramento valley the course was in very good condition. The course makes you keep your drive straight with narrow fairways. Greens were very well kept and made a great day of golf!!
Slow
Course was nice but geared more towards walking as the cart rate was pretty expensive. The pace was very slow and the Marshall did nothing to speed it up.
Love this course!
Fun course to play! Only been a few times but we get out on time, if not a few minutes before our tee time. Always good pace of play when we've been there. Great drink specials every month, try the Smooth Sailor! Haven't tried the food, but they have breakfast and happy hour food specials too.
Bartley
Best shape bartley could be in. Except wet bunkers.
Fun little course
This was my first time playing Bartley-Cavanaugh and had little information about the course other than it wasn't very long. I had a 2:20 pm tee time, but was told I could tee off early if I wanted. I arrived on the tee about 45 minutes prior to my start time and was given the go ahead by the starter. There is no driving range, only a net to hit balls into so be prepared to figure out your swing on the course.
The course itself is not long with only one par four over 400 yards (412) on this day. The greens were on great shape, rolling true and fairly fast. The course is in really good shape overall and I had a great first experience and can't wait to return. This is a great course for walkers, very little in the way of hills, and if you can put your ball in the fairway you definitely have the chance to score low.
It's nice to get a fair and descriptive assessment. This helps my decision to give it a try. I too like a chance for a low score!
Accomodating
Staff was great,,but Bar tender slow,,,maybe he was having a bad day
Very nice
Played quickly on
Saturday morning. Food cost are way too high
Great twilight
Course was in good shape, greens were a little slow other than that the pace of play was amazing. Paid $16 to play for 2 hours. Can't beat that.
The course is well maintained that presents a few challenging holes that will bite you if you are not paying attention. The price is good and the greens are excellent. My only advice is that marshals be more assertive in maintaining the pace of play. thanks
Nice Course, Nice features
Has been almost 5 years since I last played this course. Didn't like it back then, probably because I wasn't playing that well. Gave it another try and liked it. It is not a long course but narrow fairways and water make it a challenge. You have to hit your drive in the fairway or you are going to have some trouble. The rough is tough in spots, a lot of traps guarding the green and of course the water. The greens were in excellent shape. They did have some tough pin placements this day and with the water and narrow fairways I gave it a somewhat challenging course. The staff for the most part, very friendly, had one guy help check me in who was high on himself, not impressed. According to him the course is going to start doing all their own tee times and dump golfnow. One thing I have noticed about the Sac courses is they stay with the same price for most of the day and late in the day they drop it a little. If I am going to play late in the day in the summer I would expect the price to come down. Could be the reason when I drive buy in the afternoon I hardly ever see anyone on the courses. Didn't get to use their practice facilities except the putting green which is in very good shape. Also the only thing I had in the bar restaurant was a beer. The inside is very nice and clean so I would imagine the food is good. I played as a single and paired up with another single and later on another couple joined us. Had a very nice time and that is because the people I played with made it very enjoyable. This is a very nice course and I will play it again if the price is right.
Bartly
Fun course with a fair amount of water holes. It is in relatively good condition considering our drought. Decent and somewhat challenging greens. One draw back is the lack of driving range. We played on a week day and the rate of play was amazing.. But I have played on weekends when it was agonizingly slow.
Great Course, Poor Service
Love this course but the restaurant part was terrible. Called in on the 9th hole. Got there and one person working and he was extremely slow. As I got to the register, he walked away, went outside and bussed some tables and talked to people. Came in and talked to some people watching College Basketball on TV, then took the dishes into the kitchen, came out and walked right by me at the register and begin to talk to some other people at a table. As to service at check in that was good.
Good deal
For the money it was a great deal little bit windy out there today but the greens were perfect rolling condition
I have played every public course in the Sacramento area. These greens are among the few best of the dozen or so public courses. Try Bing, Mather, Cordova, Teal, Land Park, Haggin Oaks or Hoffman for average greens.
