About
A true links style reminisent of many of the old Scottish Courses. Well thought out, with just the right amount of fescuitous hazards nee and far.
The wind seems to change direction at will here giving it a true "links feel". The greens require a steady hand to beat the undulations. The course rebounded after a wee bout with the green rot, I look forward to this year. Lasses, prepare to strap one on if you want to play from the real tees on 18! Hoots man, It's magic!!

You get what you pay for
Website said recently reconditioned. Would hate to see it before hand. Little grass on the tee boxes. Sand in traps was thick and dirty. Many areas of disrepair on the course. Glad I didn't pay more than $30 to ride 18 holes. Greens were slow and bumpy.
OK Course but would not play again
Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Got me off as a single quickly. Overall I was a little disappointed in the course -- I drove for 45 minutes to get there and there were better courses closer to my North Myrtle Beach location.
Twilight time misconception
Vacationing in Myrtle and brought a foursome to play Heron Point. Attendant in the proshop was not in the pro shop, so I waited a couple of minutes and was about to walk out then he showed up. Golf course was pretty rough. We payed 18, and I didn't feel like it was worth it. On GolfNow it said we were booking a twilight time, but they only let us play 18. It's ok though, we won't be back.
rain out
Sorry but cannot write a review of the course because we only played a few holes before the rain hit us really hard. The staff was very nice and gave us a rain check.
Poor greens
At least 17 of the 18 greens were more than 50% dead. The fairways were very patchy also. This course may not have any grass by summers end at the rate it is going. Paid $25 as a on the way home round and won't be going back.
Play somewhere else
Course was in terrible shape. Greens had several different types of grass on them including crabgrass and some bare spots. Bunkers were compacted sand and not groomed at all. With all the courses in the area, this one should be played only if the others are full. Not impressed at all. My first and last time at Heron Point GC.....
Has some good challenges for all types of golfers.
Had had a lot of rain, so course was pretty wet when I played. Had some good challenges on most holes. Greens were kinda bare in places. Had a group of 5 playing in front of us and slowed play quite a bit.
Want a challenge?
Very nice course. Challenging enough for all levels. Definitely one of my favorite course near Murrells Inlet.
Very tight.
Fairways are very narrow, and greens are protected by huge bunkers. A great challenge. However, we lost a lot of balls on the rough as there was too many dead leaves on the course. bunkers and greens were not in good shape. A challenging course but not the best conditions.
Short but tight - Good layout but greens and bunkers need attention

Needs some TLC
The course has an interesting layout and we enjoyed our morning. It would have been nice if they would have let us know that they were doing some course maintence when we booked. The course (fairways) had not been mowed for while and when they did it was wet. Which left large clumps of grass all over the fairways and your shoes. The grass on the greens was "really" thin and almost none existing in some spots. On the carts they had cards stating that they were doing maintence on the greens and if they fill in it will be better.
